Our Programme Management and Commercial Management (PMCM) Services is a brand-new discipline in WSP UK. It provides a broad range of project-related services to our clients, including project management, portfolio management and programme management, cost management, commercial management, construction management, and building surveying. It also features a major project, multi-disciplinary design management capability.

YOUR NEW ROLE, WHATS INVOLVED?

In the role of Technical Director within the PMCM Civil Infrastructure and Utilities Group you will lead our regional teams of quantity surveyors providing Procurement and Contract Management services to our clients in support of their major infrastructure projects and programme.

Your role will be to develop the services to clients, grow the team and ensure high levels of client satisfaction through the delivery of high-quality professional services.

You will be accountable for developing a strong people, projects and client focussed culture that promotes equality and inclusion, safety and high levels of team engagement.

You will lead teams working across a range of major projects to support our clients to deliver Civil Infrastructure and Utilities assets, including Defence, Energy, Water, Roads, Aviation, Waste and Industrial Projects.

YOUR TEAM

This role is a senior position in our PMCM - Civil Infrastructure and Utilities Group reporting to the Group Director. You will have the opportunity to grow the current team of 50 Cost and Commercial Management professionals located across the UK to meet our growing pipeline of work. Your team will be a mix of experienced senior quantity surveyors through to apprentices.

We are looking for people with the ability to make a difference, pro-actively manage requirements, budgets, schedules and risks and influence others to deliver successfully. Candidates must have strong technical capability and excellent communication, problem solving and commercial management skills and be willing to take on new challenges and possess experience in the leadership and management of significant and complex projects or programmes of work.

WE’D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE

  • A background in providing consultancy services to clients in the fields of Quantity Surveying, Procurement or contract administration.

  • A proven track record of providing business, commercial and project leadership across a wide range of major projects, and experience in tailoring services to meet client needs.

  • Experience in leading and growing geographically dispersed consultancy teams providing procurement and contract administration services to clients in the infrastructure sectors, particularly under NEC4 forms of contract.

  • A track record in the operational management of large teams and effective people leadership to achieve high performance.

  • Client facing experience and track record of developing client relationships to generate work and grow long-term pipeline in the relevant market sectors.

  • Expertise in procurement and contracting strategies, advising clients in both public and private sector and understanding of Public Procurement Rules across a range of civil infrastructure sectors.

  • Experience of developing growth strategies and plans to secure work for teams and effectively manage the financial performance of the team.

  • Experience in work winning in a competitive bidding environment.

  • Strong industry networks and experience developing relationships with partner organisations, supply chain and professional associations.

  • Qualifications related to Quantity Surveying, Cost, Commercial and Contract Management and membership of relevant professional institutions – RICS, APM, etc.
