Bloomberg Team Leader - Earnings Data Extraction in London, United Kingdom

The Earnings Extraction team is responsible for extracting key performance indicators from company earnings documents to provide clients data within milliseconds through Bloomberg News and other distribution channels. These rules focus on the most relevant, market-moving data points, publishing this data to headline news stories, terminal functions, and enterprise data feeds.

What's the Role?

We are looking for a highly motivated and driven individual to lead the Earnings Extraction team. The team is located in London and covers the global markets. As Team Leader, you will be directly responsible for managing, motivating, and developing a team with strong domain expertise, technical skills and strategic development. You will be expected to guide the team to find opportunities to improve your product’s core values of quality and timeliness. This position requires extensive global collaboration within Data and with business partners in Product Strategy, Engineering, and Sales to build a market-leading data product.

We’ll trust you to:

  • Mentor, inspire, and grow a hard-working team of data analysts, data engineers, data quality specialists and a vendor manager to form a collaborative team unit to solve sophisticated problems and deliver business outcomes

  • Develop each team member's domain expertise, data analysis, business intelligence, project management, and/or resource management through coaching and constructive feedback to be able to proactively spot gaps and opportunities for future innovation

  • Stay current with relevant trends across your remit: approaches in AI/ML and Python/Regex to across data extraction and how they can be used in earnings extraction product; regulatory frameworks around structured extraction (XBRL, iXBRL)

  • Responsible for building a fit-for-purpose data model that can be used by different client types and through diverse distribution channels

  • Partner with global counterparts across Product, News, Engineering and other Data teams to reinvent the future of low latency equity data extraction as well as workflows (annotation, observability) to support this

  • Build clear technical requirements for Engineering to support the dataset quality

  • Guide the team to design and implement proactive data quality management supported by client-focused metrics and process observability (i.e. business intelligence) for the product and operations

  • Be an advocate for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, truly understanding its importance to our business, culture, and people

  • Define and lead quality strategy for real time earnings product as well as support this by robust statistical analysis initiatives

You’ll need to have:

*Please note we use years of experience as a guide but we certainly will consider applications from all candidates who are able to demonstrate the skills necessary for the role.

  • 3+ years of relevant leadership experience or strong relevant experience as an individual contributor, and relevant domain knowledge

  • 3+ years of data management experience to lead a team of data professionals and ensure high standards in production deliveries including deep technical competence in python, data analysis and data modeling

  • Solid understanding of text data processing paradigms and associated tools and technologies (e.g. Regex, Python libraries for processing html/text)

  • Experience driving strategies, managing complex projects, and leadership ability in change management or influencing others

  • Demonstrable ability to design, articulate and build new workflows

We’d love to see:

  • Experience or knowledge in earnings content, terminal fluency, and/or data workflows

  • Understanding and curiosity towards modern approaches in ML/ AI (especially in the space of information extraction and retrieval)

  • Experience building robust AI-focused annotation workflows

  • Experience using data visualization tools, such as QlikSense

  • Familiarity with XBRL
