Pearson Standards Verifier-Entry Level Functional Skills (Maths and English) in London, United Kingdom

Pearson is looking to recruit Standard Verifiers for Entry Level Functional Skills (Maths and English) and Levels 1&2 (Maths and English) to undertake sampling of assessment and internal verification decisions for Entry Level Functional Skills (Maths and English) and Levels 1&2 (Maths and English) in order to confirm that national standards have been achieved and upheld. Support centres during the sampling process. Support centres in delivering these programmes to meet national standards.

Please note that Standards Verifiers (SV) are recruited during the summer and SV training takes place between August and October. If you are applying, please note we start shortlisting in May.

Responsibilities

Covering a defined range of programmes within, the Standards Verifier (SV) will:

  • Be responsible for the standards verification of learners’ work from the centres allocated and for the completion of standards verifier reports within agreed timeframe

  • Undertake postal sampling for allocated centres as required to verify delivery and administration of the programme and to undertake sampling of assessment and internal verification decisions

  • Review allocated centres’ systems, processes and resources annually and report the findings to the centre and Pearson via the Standards Verifier Report Forms

  • Produce targeted actions for centres to assist with remedial action where national standards are not being upheld

  • Follow the protocols set out in the Centre Guide for Quality Assurance and other supporting documents

  • Provide support to general queries relating to ELFS qualifications

  • Attend training sessions as required to keep up to date with administrative processes and standards

  • Undertake any other duties appropriate to the work of VQ Assessment in relation to this role

  • Respect the confidentiality of centres and learners

  • Act at all times in a way which will not bring Pearson, its employees and representatives into disrepute.

Previous Work Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) in the field of assessment and delivery of vocational qualifications

  • Experience working in a centre within the last four years

  • Experience with Functional Skills

  • A willingness to engage in online training and standardisation and to use technology-based approaches to communication and centre support.

Desirable

  • Experience teaching Entry Level Functional Skills (Maths and English) and Levels 1&2 (Maths and English)

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (including SharePoint and Teams)

Requirements:

Any associate undertaking this role must:

·Have personal IT equipment capable of running Pearson required software

·Availability to sample 10 to 25 centres per academic year
