Why this job matters

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the team that develops and operates the UK’s largest Public Wifi network. We need a software engineer with strong database skills who can develop and transform the management information statistics (MIS) for the UK’s biggest Public Wifi network.

Your role will be to lead the design and development work needed to maintain our existing MIS solution and transform it to the latest cloud-based solutions.

What you’ll be doing

The team you will be joining uses agile methodologies and has years of experience in a range of software development tools and works on multiple applications. You will be a self-starter and have the chance to work closely with the product team to derive real business value from our MIS capability by seeing developments through to operation.

The work is varied and includes:

  • Understanding, processing and presenting usage data from a variety of Public Wifi products.

  • Ensuring customer data is stored and managed in accordance with GDPR rules.

  • Ensuring data is processed efficiently and presented in a timely fashion.

  • DevOps to ensure service availability and potentially fix any in-life operational issues.

  • Migrating on-premises applications to cloud based architectures such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Google Cloud.

  • Planning and undertaking deployment of changes to the Public Wifi platform.

  • Developing bespoke queries to derive insight from usage data.

We would like to hear from you if you have

  • Linux (shell scripting, init scripts, system resource management/usage, administration)

  • Database technologies including MariaDB and Oracle

  • Radius

  • Python

  • Java 8 or higher (ideally Java 17) and Springboot frameworks
