The Investment Advisory (IA) Team works with institutional, financial, public sector, family office and property company clients to develop tailored solutions designed to meet their specific business and investment objectives. In recent years we have identified family offices and insurance companies as being the strongest potential growth areas in terms of our investor client profiles.

We work in partnership with our clients, knowing that each one is unique and requires a bespoke level of service and advice. Our specialist Team leverages decades of experience and expertise to find our clients the right opportunities, and we have an enviable track record in helping our clients achieve their investment objectives whatever they are.

We work with our CBRE Capital Markets teams, as well our broad agency network, to deliver the best on and off market opportunities for our clients. Our relationships and track record means we cover the whole market and as such our success rate is very high. Our Team’s diverse skillset means we can also advise our clients whether they invest through equity or debt, both directly and indirectly.

This role focuses on supporting the more senior members of the Team on running our existing retained mandates and supporting on new business development initiatives. The successful candidate will work alongside colleagues on investment purchases and disposals as well as on the asset management of existing assets held within client portfolios.

The candidate will also support on ad hoc projects and with regular client reporting.

There are four main areas where IA provides advice:

Strategic Advice

  • Understanding and outlining the clients’ investment objectives.

  • Creating a well-thought-out strategy, structure and propositions to meet client objectives.

  • Advising on the best locations, sectors, and risk profiles to meet the clients’ objectives.

Investment Sourcing and Advice

  • Sourcing on and off market investment opportunities and managing the full investment process on behalf of our clients.

  • Extensive experience in all commercial and residential sectors, across the UK and Europe.

  • Often our track record and relationships in the market will generate better leads and provide better value for money for our clients.

Asset Management

  • Proactively manage the clients’ assets to maximise investment performance.

  • Extensive experience of leasing and letting advice, through to more complex redevelopment, refurbishment or repositioning projects.

  • Long-running relationships with technical and specialist providers (including ESG), as well as the management of third parties.

Structuring and Financing

  • Working with the client, and their tax and legal advisors, to provide the most tax efficient structures for their investments.

  • Sourcing and structuring finance for clients’ investments, from within CBRE and through our market contacts.

  • Finding suitable joint venture partners for more complex projects and platforms.

The candidate may also support on the analysis and underwriting of investments made into unlisted property funds.

The primary role of the successful candidate will be to support an Executive Director and four Senior Directors on behalf of the Team’s retained clients.

Desired technical, skills and experience:

We are searching for someone with good all round property investment abilities. Experience of the below is preferred (but not essential) if the candidate can demonstrate the right aptitude to develop and learn new skills.

  • Experience across all of the major real estate sectors, i.e., retail, commercial, industrial, residential and alternatives.

  • Financial viability and financial modelling expertise using Excel (Argus experience may be acceptable) to assess viability, deliverability and funding returns.

  • Good understanding of the basic principles of valuation.

  • Understanding of or a desire to learn about the financial and funding markets with a focus on development/investment debt and equity.

  • Ability to carry out due diligence and underwrite investment reports for consideration by our clients.
