Your knowledge of transportation analysis and design methods, goals and objectives are instrumental in helping us win new work and execute projects to the clients’ satisfaction. As a “seller”, you assist our Area Manager in identifying new opportunities within the Maritimes, are instrumental in developing proposals and helping us win opportunities. As a “doer”, you plan and define project / program goals and devise methods to accomplish them, as well as provide design leadership and management of projects through all phases from inception, planning, design, construction and closeout. Along with your P.Eng and 15+ years of experience, you have experience managing local projects, industry contacts and a strong work ethic.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Find and manage transportation focused projects and engineering tasks such as design, engineering analyses, and project plan development.

  • Manage project delivery including schedules, budgets and quality, manages your own projects with support from the Regional Manager and Project Controls.

  • Liaison and coordination with clients, stakeholders and sub-consultants

  • Design leadership for the preparation of engineering design plans, engineering computations, technical reports, specifications, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates.

  • Senior level review and approval of project technical documentation, including drawings and specifications

  • Team management including performance evaluations of subordinate staff, resources allocation and recruiting

  • Business development activities and undertake leadership roles in proposal preparation including assistance in developing project methodology, work programs, schedules, budgets

  • Prepare technical reports and documentation of activity for clients and project management, and promoting technical excellence and quality assurance of project tasks and deliverables.

  • Maintain an awareness of trends, developments and advancements in the transportation engineering field to retain technical competency, and to provide state-of-the-art services and advice to our clients

  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering

  • Minimum of 15+ years of transportation engineering experience, including 5 years of project management experience

  • Municipal, provincial and federal project experience and knowledge of transportation standards, policies, and manuals

  • Demonstrated ability and experience in training, mentoring, motivating, leading and supervising a team of highly qualified professional staff.

  • Demonstrated success in gaining regulatory approvals including permitting with conservation authorities, road/rail authorities, and Ministry of Environment and Climate Change
