Ankura Senior Associate, Construction Disputes & Advisory (Quantum) in London, United Kingdom

You will have the opportunity to work with highly reputable, specialist expert witnesses, recognised by Who’s Who Legal. You will be part of a talented team of experts working on some of the world’s most interesting and significant disputes.

You will work from our London office. However, we support flexible working arrangements and are interested to discuss how we can accommodate individual requirements.

Our Quantum experts are primarily involved in dispute resolution, primarily in expert witness testimony and support in arbitration and litigation, focussing on cost and damages analysis as well as claims assessment, schedule analysis, technical issue analysis and account evaluation services. You will be required to perform advanced data research, management, and analysis. This role will involve client interaction, including preparing and presenting results.

The international nature of our work means that successful candidates should be prepared to travel globally, sometimes at short notice. You will have the opportunity to broaden your experience by working on complex and landmark projects in the construction and engineering sector all over the globe including the UK.

Senior Associate would be equivalent to Senior Consultant or Senior QS level.

Responsibilities:

Assist in analysis or preparation of claims and counterclaims in respect of extension of time, loss and expense, disruption, prolongation, and relief from liquidated damages, particularly matters of delay.

Working with a team, assisting with the provision of expert advice to clients.

Assist in delivery of commission services in line with client briefs.

Delivering tasks within specified time frames.

Processing and verification of invoices and timesheets.

Requirements

We anticipate that the successful candidate will have a good academic record and be able to demonstrate how they have distinguished themselves within their chosen field. We require an individual with strong quantity surveying or cost management experience.

Essential:

  • Qualification in Construction, Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering.

  • Experience of working on a Construction site.

  • Membership (or working towards membership) of a relevant professional body i.e ICE or RICS.

  • Demonstrable interest in Claims and Disputes.

  • A sense of personal responsibility for the quality for their quality of work and ability to manage own workload to meet deadlines.

  • Excellent oral and verbal communications skills

  • Good analytical, investigation and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic consultancy environment.

  • Very strong IT skills e.g. Advanced Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.

  • Strong relationship building skills.

  • Fluent in English and one other language would be beneficial.
