Overview:

The Market Risk Control Analyst - Energy Product Commodities role is embedded in the Treasury Organisation independently providing both Support and Controls to the Chevron Supply and Trading (S&T) organization. This role is based in our London office and is co-located within our open-plan Trading floor working in our current hybrid working model. Chevron Supply and Trading (S&T) provides a critical link between the market and Chevron’s upstream, downstream and chemicals companies. Position Summary:

The Market Risk Control Analyst - Energy Product Commodities role provides support to the Trading function via daily market risk reporting including understanding and providing independent commentaries for Position, Exposure, P&L, and VaR (Value at Risk) for the Trading function. The team provides coverage for all of Trading Europe including Crude, Carbon Credit, Products, Liquids, Natural Gas and LNG. This role relies on excellent oral and written communication skills in partnering with in-house Traders. The Market Risk Control Analyst - Energy Product Commodities role is responsible for ensuring internal trading control policies are adhered to.

Required Qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Minimum of 2 years’ Risk Control/Market Risk experience gained within an Oil & Gas or B ank trading environment

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to explain complex subjects to all levels from Traders through to Senior Managers

  • Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines

  • Understanding of the underlying fundamentals of commodity and product flow

  • Ability to analyze large data sets to enable insightful analysis that explains drivers in exposure, P&L and VaR to Supply & Trading organization

  • Highly proficient with Excel and trading database applications

  • Can work closely with IT on system and digital projects, troubleshooting issues and drive changes needed

  • Can work closely with S&T trading and trade analysts to provide theory and logic of the risk values presented in the Daily Management Risk Report

  • Ability to effectively interact and communicate with team members, Supply & Trading personnel and Senior Management from all functions

  • Provide clear, logical recommendations in a concise manner, to both internal and external stakeholders

  • Ability to synthesize complex topics and present appropriate level of detail for the audience

  • Interest in acting as and developing into a market risk subject matter expert

    Job duties for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Daily analysis of the trading positions, P&L and VaR, on an aggregate portfolio basis down to the trading portfolio level.

  • Monitor trading activity daily against established trading authority limits and working with Traders to adjust limits as business dictates.

  • Ensure adherence to S&T Control Policy and escalate to appropriate level when appropriate.

  • Create, adjust and validate price curves working with front office to ensure accuracy to market exposure.

  • Work with IT and Risk Control Global teams on system and ad-hoc projects driving adoption of digital tools, global alignment and timely implementations.

  • Perform ad hoc analysis of commodity price volatilities, correlations, absolute prices, VaR or other duties as assigned.

  • Act as steward for trading system data.
