AWS Worldwide Public Sector (WWPS) is seeking a Sr. Sales Manager who will have the exciting opportunity to help drive the growth and shape the future of AWS. Leading through leaders, you will be responsible for owning, defining, and driving the lead development sales strategy for the Global Lead Development team in the UK and EMEA. You will have led large and complex multi-cultural organizations, built and scaled high performing teams, and have a world class business acumen with significant multi-vertical Public Sector exposure, preferably across Federal, Healthcare, Education, Local Government and Non-Profit customers. You have a passion to hire, develop and motivate a skilled team of leaders and sellers to execute on inbound leads and creative outbound lead generation/inside sales activities. You need to be adept at delivering desired outcomes through others while staying abreast of the detail. You excel at communication and collaboration, driving partnerships with other AWS teams, globally, such as sales, marketing, program management, business development, sales operations, and recruiting, as well as representing your team to executive management.

By working backwards from customers, your team is an extension of AWS’ WWPS sales organization and prospects into public sector customers to help them adopt AWS services in the UK and across EMEA. To ensure the team and organization’s success, you will build strategic alignment both vertically and horizontally across AWS through cross-functional interlock. This leader of leaders will deliver results while working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment. Success is measured by the team’s pipeline creation, activity-based metrics against service level agreements (SLAs), and attainment against sales forecast goals.

Key job responsibilities

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Lead team to exceed defined metrics and service level agreements for customer outreach, lead response and pipeline build.

• Engage directly with public sector leaders to define effective coverage strategies that drive a rolling 12-month cycle of pipeline build and revenue production in emerging territories.

• Tightly manage the growth, pipeline, and forecast process for this business.

• Create reporting and metrics with operations team that clearly and accurately report the health and progress of the business.

• Maintain an in-depth knowledge and understanding of existing and developing technologies as it relates to cloud computing; understand and identify opportunities for customers.

• Train team on deep prospecting skills

• Develop reps into sales-ready candidates for future sales development positions

• Understand customer business issues and how these issues can be solved with AWS services

• Represent your business in business reviews

Basic Qualifications

• 7+ years of technology related sales or business development experience

• 5+ years sales management experience; managing teams of 10 or more

• 5+ years of second line management experience (manager of managers) leading inside sales/demand generation sales organizations with 40+ headcount

• Demonstrated record of people development.

• Ability to dive deep into data, find meaning and deliver outcomes.

• MBA, BA/BS degree or relevant experience

• Experience with CRM and Salesforce.com

Preferred Qualifications

• 15+ years of sales and/or marketing experience, inclusive of enterprise field experience

• Proven track record of metrics and quota obtainment

• Strong leadership skills with a focus on development

• Experience developing and executing multi-modal, targeted campaigns

• Experience working with a matrixed team of stakeholders to achieve common goal

• Experience with using data and trends to articulate business needs

• A technical background in engineering, computer science, or MIS a plus

• Ability to execute performance through self-motivation and with minimum supervision.

• Proven ability to initiate action, manage change, make high impact decisions, and exercise authority appropriately and effectively.
