THE POSITION
We are currently seeking to recruit a Consultant Relations Manager to join our Client Group in London. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and managing our relationships with the global consultant community, with a particular focus on top tier investment consulting firms in the UK and across the APAC region. The Consultant Relations team plays a critical role in building recognition of Wellington Management’s investment expertise, in ultimate inclusion in investment manager searches, and in improved retention of common clients. The position requires the ability to develop effective relationships with research and field consultants, as well as other functional groups within Wellington Management. In particular, the Consultant Relations Manager will work closely with many internal groups to ensure effective coverage at all levels of the consulting firms within their assigned territory.
Primary responsibilities of this role will include:
Independently leading engagements across all levels of consultant organizations, including research staff, asset allocation, OCIO portfolio managers, senior leadership, and field consulting teams;
Employing top-to-bottom organizational engagement to retain and grow consultant ratings for key Wellington products;
Developing and implementing business strategies to maximize revenue growth and retention, working closely with our Business Development and Relationship Management teams, to triangulate on key shared client relationships;
Orchestrating consultant specific product rollouts, marketing strategy initiatives and special projects;
Implementing field consultant engagement plans that includes brand building, value added activity with Wellington subject matter experts, and regular one to one engagement with senior field consultants;
Obtaining and acting on regular feedback from consultants regarding the firm, our capabilities, strategies, and industry trends;
Demonstrating inclusive leadership, and developing team members by identifying and carving out opportunities for the team to work independently;
Being accountable for end-to-end results including (but not limited to) net client growth, new ratings, and high levels of quality activity.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful candidate is likely to have:
A strong academic background, ideally including a relevant professional qualification (e.g. CFA) or progress towards one:
10+ years of relevant professional experience, including a proven track record of successfully building and managing relationships within the investment consulting community;
Expertise in managing a large territory, and the ability and willingness to travel extensively;
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with an ability to influence others;
An innovative and growth mindset;
Proficiency in Salesforce, Excel and Outlook.
