Building Surveyor
The Role:
Sedgwick Commercial Surveying and Design is part of Sedgwick International. You will be working within a varied team which includes Chartered Building Surveyors, Technicians and RIBA Architects.
Our business has grown considerably over the last few years, with huge opportunities still to be capitalised on in both the insurance and non-insurance markets. To support that growth, we have a fantastic opportunity for a Building Surveyor to join our team. This opportunity would be ideal for candidates based in or around London.
You will be involved in and lead numerous projects to reinstate commercial properties following damage by an insured peril. Projects typically range in value from £50k to £5m. Dependent on the size and complexity of each project you may work alone or lead a small project team working with QS’s, Engineers and Architects.
Participating in a wide range of surveying activities, ranging from technical reporting, defects diagnosis, preparing Schedule of Works, Tender documents, contract administration and project management, you will be able to empathise with clients who may have suffered a loss but then able to turn around professional reporting within tight timescales. The ability to manage a workload and make reasoned decisions under pressure is a must.
The ideal candidate will be confident in supporting & developing less experienced colleagues, and will have the enthusiasm to promote the skills of the team to both internal and external stakeholders. Whilst Sedgwick provides flexibility, there is an expectation when you're not on-site, that you will spend a significant amount of time in our central London office, undertaking these activities.
Sedgwick offers excellent opportunities to develop as a professional both within the UK and internationally. Whether it be flooding in any area of the UK, or responding to hurricanes in the Caribbean, we will be able to offer a different portfolio of work than you may see in other companies.
You'll be required to work very closely with colleagues in the Loss Adjusting teams in our London region to build relationships. An ability to bring non-insurance clients would be valued. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented Building Surveyor looking to develop their career. As we have grown so have the opportunities and roles available in our business and we value candidates with ambition.
