Overview

We are seeking a passionate and organized Special Programs Coordinator to lead, develop, and expand the Extension-Based Career Inspiration, Wellness and Ecological Belonging ("EBCI-WEB") Program, a new statewide initiative of Utah State University's Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter. The coordinator will be responsible for supporting program administration and facilitation, curriculum development and implementation, statewide program growth, and public outreach. A significant component of the program will focus on engaging youth with justice system involvement, with a goal of improving life outcomes.

 

The successful candidate will be outgoing, engaging, and enthusiastic about helping improve the lives of community members by connecting them to nature, to wellness tools, and to career mentors. Building and maintaining strong professional relationships is essential, and the successful candidate must be adept at finding, engaging and stewarding local partners and experts from diverse backgrounds. Backgrounds in positive youth development, social work, health and wellness, and/or supporting at-risk youth are considered valuable. Familiarity with diverse populations and non-traditional educational paths will also be an asset.

 

This is a part-time, non-benefited, position with approximately 29 hours of work per week. Work week schedule is flexible with a combination of remote and in office work. Occasional overnight and weekend work with statewide travel will be required based upon EBCI-WEB Program scheduling and events.

Responsibilities

Program Coordination and Administration:

 

  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the new EBCI-WEB Program.

  • Develop and update program curriculum, ensuring alignment with scientific research and best practices.

  • Manage program logistics, including scheduling programming, securing locations, and coordinating with partner organizations.

  • Build relationships with relevant organizations, government agencies, and community groups.

  • Track necessary certifications and risk-management tasks.

  • Identify and pursue grant opportunities, foundation funding, and sponsorships to support program growth and sustainability.

  • Maintain records, budgets, and grant reporting requirements.

Education and Outreach:

 

  • Design and lead engaging program activities, field experiences, and training sessions for participants.

  • Collaborate with experts, educators, and agencies to enhance program content.

  • Develop educational materials, presentations, and online resources.

  • Organize networking events, continuing education opportunities, and service projects for EBCI-WEB partners and participants.

  • Promote the program through social media, newsletters, and community events.
