Overview The Utah Farm and Food Business Project Coordinator will coordinate day-to-day administrative, financial, and communications activities between Utah Farm and Food Business partners (including USU Extension and Utah Department of Agriculture and Food). The Utah Farm and Food Business Program operates as part of the Southwest Regional Food Business Center (SWRFBC), a regional hub which provides technical assistance and capacity building opportunities for farm and food businesses across California, Nevada, Arizona, and Utah.

This position is grant-funded through June 30, 2028, contingent on employee performance and annual renewal of funding. Continuation of this position beyond this date is dependent on future funding opportunities.  Location is flexible along the Wasatch Front (Davis, Salt Lake, or Utah county), with preference given for Salt Lake.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee project budget to support activities, in collaboration with Program Director and SWRFBC staff, including updating/refining each fiscal year, and ensure programmatic spending is consistent with approved categories.
  • Ensure Utah partners are maintaining records consistent with SWRFBC requirements, and aggregate reports from Utah partners for quarterly SWRFBC reporting.
  • Ensure evaluation and assessment tools are used by Utah partners (and other stakeholders as appropriate) when developing and carrying out programming in the state, and that the results from evaluations and assessments are transmitted to the evaluation team lead and Center.
  • Establish regular meeting schedule for Utah partners, set agendas, and record minutes, and attend monthly SWRFBC Leadership Council/Working Group meetings as assigned.
  • Coordinate development of an annual plan of work for Utah partners, and report plan back to SWRFBC.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of the Utah Farm and Food Business Program website, and provide regular Program updates through social media channels.
  • Identify statewide partners and develop/manage a plan for coordination of efforts, outreach, marketing, delivery of technical assistance and grant and loan applications.
  • Coordinate training and networking events for stakeholders, including farmers, ranchers, and food processors.
  • In coordination with SWRFBC, serve as Leadership Council Lead for one year, including planning and hosting one regional meeting in the state (tentatively set for July 2025-June 2026)
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in a field related to agriculture, program management, or business, or AS/AAS with 2+ years directly related experience
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience managing budgets
