Mountview Assisted Living Home Health Aide in Lockport, New York

Lockport. MountView Assisted Living. Home Health Aide. $17.55/hour.

Qualifications: 1. Eighteen (18) years of age required; high school diploma or equivalent preferred. 2. Certification by an approved basic training program in home health aide services approved by the Department of Health and possess written evidence of such certification. Must maintain current annual skills testing approval. 3. Successful clearance of a Criminal History Background Check.

Work Area & Conditions: Work area is assigned by supervisor. Exposed to emotional and psychological stresses associated with the care of elderly residents including sensitive communication with family members and friends of residents. Orientation will prepare for the conditions in facility including exposure to physiological and potentially infectious conditions of the elderly, ill or mentally impaired. Frequent contact with public, staff, residents, families and outside vendors.

Job Duties: Position Duties include but are not limited to: * Responsible for responding immediately to residents requests. Timely response to resident pull cords. * Assist residents with the following Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), according to their plan of care, individual needs, and care preferences: - Bathing - Dressing - Eating - Exercise - Housekeeping - Assisting with Medical Supplies/Equipment - Positioning - Ambulation - Grooming - Toileting - Transferring - Walking - Personal Emergency Response - Routine Skin Care - Laundering of Clothing * Notify Supervisor of changes in residents conditions or needs: * Receive report about status of residents from nurse prior to providing care. * Follow plan of care in providing daily living and personal care services for resident. * Inform nurse after providing personal care services, taking of vital signs, weighing resident, and other services or tasks, as assigned. * Maintain facility standards for resident care by: * Maintain knowledge of protecting rights of residents. * Ensuring that all residents are treated with respect and kindness. * Reporting to nurse in charge about facility equipment that needs repair, unsafe conditions in room or on floor, or personal needs of residents. Ensure all equipment is clean, stored appropriately and in good working order. * Attending at least twelve (12) hours of in-service programs annually to reinforce or enrich knowledge of resident needs and care. * Showing respect for personal possessions of residents and helping maintain an orderly pleasant environment on the floor for staff and residents. * Assist with service in the dining room for all meals as needed. Maintain facility standards for service and customer focus techniques. * Inform nurse responsible for the care of resident and document duties performed as necessary before leaving for break or end-of-shift. * Assist LPN/Resident by providing Medication reminders to Residents on assignment.

Shifts Available: 2:00 pm - 10:00 pm and 10:00 pm - 6:00 am

Must be able to work every other weekend and holidays as scheduled.
