Trinity Health Software Packaging Distribution Engineer (REMOTE) in Livonia, Michigan

POSITION PURPOSE

Creates and coordinates the development, testing, piloting and deployment of enterprise-wide software packages through a formal release management process. Serves as liaison with application owners and project managers throughout the application packaging development and deployment process. Acts as a subject matter expert in application packaging. Provides third level technical support for application packaging issues.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.

  • Initiates, plans and leads team for internal software upgrades, new product research and process development.

  • Coordinates, designs, develops and tests all enterprise level software distribution packages at the remote locations.

  • Provides in-depth support of core and basic support of non-core software.

  • Participates in project activities beyond technical tasks, to include collecting data, contributing to designs/decisions, and communicating with customers.

  • Performs in-depth investigation/research into resolution of non-routine problems.

  • Provides solutions to moderately complex hardware and software issues to include configurations, optimizations, system imaging, queues, drivers, etc.

  • Receives, maintains, and closes issues through the proper use of incident and request tracking software, meeting or exceeding all Service Level Agreement (SLA) requirements and quality standards.

  • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Integrity and Compliance Program, and Code of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical, and professional behavior.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience with multi-site, large environment application package deployments.

  • Experience with project planning and acting in technical project leadership role.

  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience with Novell ZenWorks, Admin Studio, SCCM or a similar product for application packaging and distribution.

  • MSI application packaging experience.. Experience with application virtualization preferred.

  • Working knowledge of Windows automation scripting such as WMI, VBScript, batch files, Windows Scripting Host, or KIXTART is strongly preferred.

  • ZenWorks experience for deployment of packages is preferred.

  • Experience and working knowledge of Visual Basic and Visual Basic scripting is preferred.

  • In-depth knowledge of operating systems (Windows 7 workstation, Windows 20XX server).

  • Experience configuring, supporting and troubleshooting Windows workstations and desktop applications.

  • Experience with DLL conflicts, Windows registry, environment variables, and batch files.

  • Advanced knowledge of PC hardware, peripherals, and core software.

  • Basic knowledge of network operating systems, protocols, and administration.

  • Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist certification (or equivalent) preferred.

  • Ability, aptitude, and desire to be part of service oriented team.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact effectively with clients, vendors, and ITS staff.

  • Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.

  • Must possess a personal presence that is characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values of Trinity Health.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to set and organize own work priorities, and adapt to them as they change frequently. Must be able to work concurrently on a variety of tasks/projects in an environment that may be stressful with individuals having diverse personalities and work styles.

  • Must be able to travel to the various Trinity Health sites (<5%) as needed.

  • Must possess the ability to comply with Trinity Health policies and procedures.

  • Must be able to adapt to frequently changing work assignments and priorities.

  • Must be able to tolerate and adapt to frequent interruptions.

  • Must be able to work on several projects, organize own work priorities and alter them as necessary.

  • Incumbent communicates frequently, in person and over the phone, with people in number of different locations on technical issues.

  • Manual dexterity is needed in order to operate and repair computer equipment. Hearing is needed for extensive telephone and in person communications.

  • Additional time commitment may be required to complete work responsibilities.
