Description:

POSITION PURPOSE

Provides leadership for the development, coordination, management, and evaluation of all nursing, technical, and other staff in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, the Electrophysiology Lab, and the Pre/Post area. Establishes priorities in services and schedules staff to provide quality patient care in a cost-effective manner. Develops and manages operating budget for designated departments. Establishes policies and procedures in collaboration with medical directors.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND LICENSURE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in cardiovascular technology or related field or nursing degree is preferred.

  • BSN preferred

  • Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialists (RCIS) preferred

  • ACLS & BLS Required

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Two to three years of related experience in a cardiac catheterization lab or equivalent

  • Two to three years progressively more responsibility

  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE

  • Interviews, hires, develops, evaluates, and supervises all nursing, technical and other staff.

  • Disciplines and terminates staff in accordance with HR policy.

  • Manages the acquisition of medical supplies and equipment used in the departments.

  • Monitor inventory utilization. Works with Trinity Purchasing to coordinate corporate pricing strategies.

  • Monitor and plan for capital requests in areas of responsibility.

  • Develop a five-year plan for capital replacement. Monitor industry for new trends that need capital support.

  • Prioritize capital requests within the areas of accountability.

  • Coordinates process for facility charges for all the procedures performed.

  • Collaborates with Medical Directors to facilitate and supports collaborative practice teams involved with ongoing quality and productivity improvement. Communicates purpose and expectations of quality improvement programs and promotes staff involvement.

  • Supervises payroll issues, including Kronos calculation and monitoring.

  • Working knowledge of all information systems in area of responsibility including image storage, hemodynamic monitoring, structured report development and integration with Epic. 8. Demonstrates support of the Patient Experience. Reviews patient satisfaction information regularly and responds to any gaps in service.

  • Maintains good rapport and cooperative relationships. Approaches conflict in a constructive manner. Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participate in their resolution.

  • Maintains the confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patient, physicians, associates, and visitors to St. Mary Mercy Livonia. Discusses patient and hospital information only among appropriate personnel in appropriately private places.

  • Behaves in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values of SMML.

  • Assumes responsibility for performance of job duties in the safest possible manner, to assure personal safety and that of coworkers, and to report all preventable hazards and unsafe practices immediately to management.
