Job Overview:

Monitors video EEG patients and identifies seizure activities. Perform neurophysiologic tests including EEGs and video-EEG initiation for adult and pediatric patients. Maintains data acquired from above-listed tests. Shares on-call and weekend coverage as required. Qualifications:

Required:

• Certified in Video Monitoring preferred. BLS certification required. Successful completion of all Orientation Programs.

Preferred:

• Knowledge of neurodiagnostic tests preferred.

Essential Functions:

• Archives interpreted EEG and video files.

• Basic first aid for seizures

• Communicates and coordinates with nursing any patient issues.

• Complete monitoring log as per policy.

• Ensures all Video EEG patient are on the network and in database.

• informs and reassures patients and family members prior to and during EEG studies

• Knows and follows electrical safety guidelines.

• Recognizes basic EEG normal and abnormal patterns and documents in activity log.

• Set appropriate montage display and settings.

• Sets up and initiates video EEG monitoring studies and maintains electrodes in good condition.

• Training peers in the above techniques.

• Troubleshoots to eliminate or reduce technical problems during EEG studies.
