Echelon Supply & Service Accounting Manager in Liverpool, New York

Job Summary: Responsible for overseeing Accounts Payable (A/P) and Accounts Receivable (A/R) team members across the organization, ensuring alignment on processes and objectives. Accountable for the accurate and timely completion of major projects, as well as month-end and year-end reporting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, develop, and enhance departmental controls, systems, and procedures to improve accuracy and efficiency.

  • Hire, train, and motivate accounting staff while supervising and delegating tasks within the department.

  • Participate in audits and general ledger reconciliations.

  • Ensure the accuracy and efficiency of the organization’s billing processes.

  • Conduct daily reviews of A/R aging reports to identify overdue invoices and implement processes to improve cash flow and reduce outstanding receivables.

  • Develop relationships with external partners to streamline the collection process and resolve credit and collection disputes with customers.

  • Oversee electronic cash receipt and disbursement processes, including uploading positive pay files.

  • Ensure sufficient funds are available to meet ongoing operational and capital investment requirements.

  • Supervise the A/P manager and department, ensuring objectives align with company policies.

  • Investigate customer credit risk, provide recommendations on credit applications, and evaluate and set credit limits for new and existing customers.

  • Collaborate with internal teams and management to address queries from internal and external parties.

  • Manage the vendor credit card payment system and reconcile accounts monthly.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, finance, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience at the management level.

  • Strong understanding of standard accounting practices and principles.

  • Proven leadership and management skills.

  • Strong ethical standards and values.

  • Ability to work independently and within a team.

  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and time management skills.

  • Adherence to company policies and procedures.

  • Strong verbal communication skills to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders and management.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and various ERP software systems.

  • Engage in both active tasks and office work at a desk. This role requires the ability to bend, stoop, sit, stand, reach, and lift items up to 50 lbs.
