Bank OZK Senior Audit Manager, Credit and Specialized Lending in Little Rock, Arkansas

Job Purpose & Scope

Responsible for the delivery and management of a portfolio of audit assignments to ensure that all business and technology risks are managed. Assignments may include Real Estate Specialties Group, Corporate & Institutional Banking, Commercial Banking, Indirect Lending & Consumer Finance Group, Residential Mortgage Lending, Special Assets, Loan Administration, and Credit Risk Management.

Essential Job Functions

  • Performs detailed, timely work and delivers complex, high quality, value added Internal Audit reports that meet the requirements of the Audit Committee and the Bank’s respective regulators.

  • Maintains business relationships with appropriate levels of management to ensure Internal Audit is aware of changes in business activities and objectives and, as necessary, Internal Audit priorities are assessed and planned.

  • Interacts effectively with Internal Audit team members working toward departmental goals; demonstrates ability to resolve team conflicts and bring the team together to enhance project results through group planning, feedback, and development skills.

  • Prepares project assessments for audit team members and provides ongoing coaching to members with various levels of experience; educates fellow audit team members on regulations, risks, Bank policies & procedures, and current practices.

  • Reviews and/or prepares audit findings for business managers and proposes recommendations for changes as needed; prepares and provides reports to the audit client.

  • Evaluates the adequacy of timeliness of management’s response and the corrective action taken for issues noted in the reports.

  • Serves as subject matter expert with managerial responsibilities over all aspects of large-scale, most complex, or high-profile audits.

  • Manages multiple projects and communicates appropriately with identified stakeholders within Internal Audit and business management.

  • Tracks and follows up on open issues and key business initiatives and ensures timely delivery of high-quality comprehensive regulatory and internal audit issue validation.

  • Participates in major business initiatives and proactively advises and assists the business on change initiatives.

  • Analyzes report findings, recommends appropriate interventions where needed, and proposes creative solutions for risk and control problems.

  • Actively participates in the preparation of the Risk Assessment.

  • Reviews audit workpapers, and audit issue and report drafts prepared by other junior level team members in accordance with established audit procedures.

  • Regularly exercise discretion and judgment in the performance of essential job functions.

  • Maintain good attendance and punctuality to work.

  • Follow Bank policy, procedures, and guidelines.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge of applicable regulations and maintains awareness of changes to, and best practices.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of generally accepted audit standards and corporate internal audit standards.

  • Knowledge of various Internal Audit standards, policies, local regulations, and general banking risk management practices.

  • Knowledge of high-risk areas, including Credit & Specialized Lending, and related risk management practices.

  • Ability to perform effective audits of the various departments and functions of the Bank.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, including presenting, listening and interviewing to influence a wide range of internal audiences.

  • Ability to demonstrate effective organization, critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to demonstrate effective project and time management skills.

  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management.

  • Ability to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to manage teams and integrated internal audit and assurance delivery within a matrix reporting environment.

  • Ability to demonstrate effective negotiation skills to communicate issues and strengths in sustaining independent views.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with exacting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to travel overnight for business purposes.

  • Ability to work without close supervision.

  • Ability to demonstrate effective leadership skills.

  • Skill in using computer, including Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Basic Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field (i.e. accounting, finance, business administration, economics), or commensurate work experience, required.

  • 8+ years of professional services work experience related to banking industry and/or regulatory agency, required.

  • 5+ years managing internal audits or leading bank examinations, required.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current CPA, CIA, CISA or related designation(s), preferred.

  • Experience working with federal regulators such as the FDIC, OCC, Federal Reserve, preferred.

  • Experience with auditing software (TeamMate), preferred.
