Hormel Foods Maintenance Fabricator in Little Rock, Arkansas

Responsibilities:

  • Determine project requirements, including scope, assembly sequences, and required methods and materials, according to blueprints, drawings, and written or verbal instructions.

  • Select appropriate type of metal, such as galvanized, black iron, stainless steel, or aluminum.

  • Lay out, measure, and mark dimensions and reference lines on material, according to drawings or templates, using calculators, scribes, dividers, squares, and tape measure/ruler.

  • Inspect individual parts, assemblies, and installations for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, scales, and micrometers.

  • Fabricate parts using arc, MIG and TIG welding, using stainless steel, aluminum, and black iron materials based on the specifications of the blueprints, drawings and/or verbal instructions.

  • Trim, file, grind, weld, deburr, buff, and smooth surfaces, seams, and joints of assembled parts, using hand tools and portable power tools.

  • Fasten seams and joints together with welds, bolts, cement, rivets, solder, caulks, metal drive clips, and bonds in order to assemble components into products or to repair sheet metal items.

  • Work with wood, fiberglass, plastics, and other nonmetallic materials.

  • Operate fabricating machines such as shears, brakes, presses, forming rolls to cut bend, block and form or straighten materials.

  • Operate computer aided drafting (CAD) equipment to develop scale drawings of parts or systems.

  • Works closely with the Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to ensure a high level of manufacturing efficiency.

  • May serve on a variety of different teams such as Fire Prevention, Hazardous Chemical Emergency Response, Safety, Innovation, and Capital Projects.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Associate of applied science degree in welding (A.A.S) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required

  • Experience with steel, aluminum and stainless steel required

  • Experience with MIG and TIG welding.

  • Ability to lift heavy items up to 50 pounds consistently required.

  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods

  • Ability to identify and measure material

  • Ability to layout, assemble, and install equipment

  • Ability to produce quality products consistently

  • Ability to follow instructions given both verbally and in written form (i.e. work orders)

  • Willingness to learn and work to the best of his/her abilities. Must be dependable and have a strong work ethic

  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs and uses

  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings, calipers, tape measures and angle gauges

  • A proven personal safety record

  • Ability to read and interpret documents furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, quality manuals and procedure manuals

  • Ability to solve fabrication challenges and successfully fabricate without written instructions (Blueprints/Drawings).

  • Familiarity with the metric system

  • Ability to perform simple shop math, convert decimals to fractional equivalents and fractions to decimal equivalents. Ability to convert from metric to imperial system or vice versa.

  • Ability to stand continuously for long periods of time

Preferred:

  • Experience with press breaks, shears, CNC plasma cutting tables, and sheet metal experience

Entry Pay Rate : M1: $27.50

Shift : Days

Compensation : $27.50 with a .50cents raise at 90 days and 120 days of completion. $1.00 shift differential, when applicable
