Duties & Responsibilities

  • Preventive maintenance including inspection and lubrication of mechanical assets at prescribed intervals as directed by the manufacturers specifications.
  • Performs preventive and predictive maintenance and repairs on assets that include but not are limited to centrifugal and vertical turbine pumps up to 400 horsepower, plunger (piston) pumps, progressive cavity pumps, rotary lobe pumps, bar screens, circular clarifiers, flight and chain clarifiers, compressors, blowers, mobile generators and pumps, piping, valves, sluice gates, rotary drum filters, methane gas compression equipment and other LRWRA equipment
  • Keeps accurate and detailed records of all work performed and enters it into the asset management system for knowledge management purposes
  • Maintains a current knowledge of multiple types of bearings relevant to LRWRA and must be able to professionally install and maintain them to prevent premature failure.
  • Cleans tools and equipment and returns to proper area
  • Keeps work areas (including shop, storage areas, and/or work locations) clean, well-organized, and safe for yourself and all others in the area
  • Completes required feedback on work orders so information can be utilized for asset history, knowledge management, proper asset depreciation, and other accounting purposes
  • Assists other technical disciplines and departments as required.
  • Document, report, and proactively resolve any point of future failure that is discovered while performing routine maintenance activities
  • Maintains a current knowledge of the process, equipment, and other components for each reclamation facility, pump station, and other structures vital to the collections and treatment process
  • Works successfully, as part of a team, with all personnel and departments in a positive and professional manner
  • If possible, respond to after-hours mechanical emergency situations that could affect the reclamation process or cause overflows in the collection system.
  • Actively participate in knowledge management through the sharing of and the documentation of knowledge relevant to LRWRA assets.
  • Follows established work procedures and practices and provides ideas and feedback to improve established work procedures and practices.
  • Always follows safety practices and guidelines, including wearing proper personal protective/safety equipment due to possible exposure to hazardous chemicals, flammable liquids, biological hazards, toxic/flammable compressed gases, and confined spaces.
  • Reports and if possible, corrects unsafe or hazardous conditions immediately.
  • Undertakes any reasonable request within capabilities that is for the good of the community and LRWRA.
