Defense Security Service Training Specialist in Linthicum, Maryland

Summary The incumbent serves as an Information Security (Course Manager) at the CDSE in Linthicum, MD. The incumbent, utilizing their knowledge, and experience reviews and interprets new & existing Information Security policies, procedures, and regulations, and then analyzes their impact on developing, implementing, and maintaining the CDSE Information Security curricula. Training that is developed and delivered to an audience of DOD, other government organizations, and to cleared industry personnel. Responsibilities As a Training Specialist you will be responsible for the following duties: - Serves as a Training Specialist (Information Security Course Manager) at the CDSE in Linthicum, MD. The incumbent, utilizing their subject matter knowledge, reviews and assist in the interpretation of new and existing Information security related policy, procedures, and regulations. - Responsible for developing, implementing, evaluating, and maintaining Information security related training and education products intended for CDSE's targeted student audience. - Utilizing their subject matter knowledge, and experience provides recommendations for new CDSE course, and/or training product development, along with completion of maintenance on existing security training, products, and services. - Serves as course manager responsible for developing training products pertaining on the following Information Security topics: procedures regarding the safeguarding, storing, destruction, transmitting, and transporting classified information. Qualifying experience may have been acquired in any public or private sector job, but will clearly demonstrate past experience in the application of the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have specialized experience sufficient to demonstrate that you have acquired all the competencies necessary to perform at a level equivalent in difficulty, responsibility, and complexity to the next lower grade GS/GG-12 in the Federal service and are prepared to take on greater responsibility. Generally, this would include one year or more of such specialized experience. Specialized experience for this position includes: Developing, implementing, and assessing existing training products for necessary updates as needed; Additionally, experience demonstrated while playing in an integral role in developing distant learning and/or in-person Information Security training in line with National, and Department of Defense (DoD) Information Security principles, policies, and procedures; Experience reviewing, interpreting, and applying Information Security based policy changes to existing training products; Interpersonal and oral/written communication skills, to include presentations to senior personnel. Specifically you will be evaluated on the following competencies: Instructional Delivery and Learner Development-Deliver, provide, and monitor training and education for individuals and groups within learning environments. Tailor and adapt instruction to ensure learners' needs are met and learning outcomes are achieved. Instructor Assessment- Observe, assess, and provide feedback to instructors related to the presentation and facilitation of training sessions. Contribute to instructor qualification/certification process to maintain quality of instruction. Learning and Program Evaluation- Assess the learning outcomes, design, and effectiveness of curricula and training programs, using internal and external assessment methods and tools, to ensure quality and degree of implementation, and to inform instructional decisions. Security Education, Training and Awareness- Develop, administer, and maintain curricula and materials on the full range of security principles and practices. Conduct and track security awareness briefings and debriefings. Education and Training Technology- Identify, evaluate, and leverage emerging and existing technologies that provide rigorous, relevant, and engaging education for instructors and learners Education Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
