Job Title: Automation Technician

Job Description

We are seeking an Automation Technician responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment and systems. The role includes designing and implementing basic modifications, participating in new equipment design, and training others. This position requires documenting repair and maintenance activities, performing daily system checks, and ensuring all quality checks are functioning properly.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair equipment and systems to resolve problems.

  • Design and implement basic modifications to resolve machine problems.

  • Dismantle, inspect, and overhaul equipment as required by preventive maintenance programs and production schedules.

  • Document repair and maintenance activities and quality checks.

  • Participate in the design of new equipment.

  • Train others on job duties, including external molders.

  • Perform daily systems checks to verify all quality checks are operating correctly.

  • Perform required housekeeping, keeping all Secondary Operations storage areas organized.

  • Continuously maintain and advance skill levels by attending seminars and vendor training.

  • Develop proficiency in machining and fabrication, including MIG and TIG welding, drill press, lathe, milling machine, and surface grinder operation.

Essential Skills

  • Working knowledge of SQF and GMP procedures.

  • Proficiency in PLC programming, maintenance electrical, and maintenance mechanics.

  • Experience with robotics and mechanical systems.

  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley PLCs.

  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and PLC systems.

  • Understanding of pneumatics and hydraulics.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude.

  • Knowledge of measuring instruments such as scale, micrometer, and caliper.

  • Ability to work from mechanical prints and electrical schematics.

  • Completion of fork truck training and ability to operate fork trucks safely.

  • High school education or equivalent.

  • Basic computer operation skills with current software operating systems and programs.

  • Ability to distinguish color and pass the EnChroma test for color blindness.

Work Environment

This position operates in a clean and climate-controlled environment. The role involves using advanced technologies and equipment, including MIG and TIG welding, drill press, lathe, milling machine, and surface grinder operations. Employees are expected to maintain an organized workspace and adhere to safety protocols.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Lincolnton, North Carolina.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $66560.00/yr.

  • Coverage starts the 1st day of the following month after date of hire.
