NMPP Energy, located in Lincoln, Nebraska is seeking a Regulatory Data & Transmission Analyst to join our team. Use your skills, experience, and talents to complete transmission applications, ensure compliance with all energy data requirements, and document all processes and procedures.

The Regulatory Data & Transmission Analyst supports the mission of NMPP Energy by:

  • Researching, receiving, reviewing, and coordinating all required data filings, submission dates, and filing requirements for the Municipal Energy Agency of Nebraska (MEAN) in order to fulfill all data reporting obligations.

  • Coordinating with other departments to develop a full and complete understanding of MEAN data models and data filing requirements; gathering, extracting, and compiling electric energy-related data from multiple sources and creating reports for monthly, quarterly, and annual filings.

  • Preparing and maintaining written procedures for all processes and documenting all pertinent information for regulatory submissions; establishing and monitoring all regulatory calendar(s) and dockets to ensure continuous compliance.

  • Analyzing transmission requests, point to point agreements and transmission positions for delivery of assets to load, and coordinating with operations to optimize transmission and accomplish delivery of power.

  • Developing models and evaluating various scenarios to analyze existing and potential transmission paths and provide recommendations for optimizing transmission paths and ownership positions.

  • Coordinating with transmission entities for new or ongoing transmission and network resource projects and required studies or assessments; completing required applications and agreements for delivery of power in coordination with other departments as required.

  • Inputting rates into transmission budget process and monitoring rate changes and justifications, coordinating with member relations to develop communication materials and schedule meetings with members informing them of transmission rate changes or other transmission-related issues.

  • Supporting the development of new regional energy imbalance and Regional Transmission Organization (RTO) markets to protect and preserve MEAN-s transmission rights and coordinating rollover rights to avoid excessive or unnecessary costs as a result of the new market.

  • Monitoring and participating in regional working groups and committees that oversee transmission tariffs and collaborating with internal staff to evaluate impacts to the organization.

  • Completing and submitting transmission forecast for compliance to transmission providers.

Skills & Qualifications You Need

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university and 1-3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to organize, manage time, and implement processes that ensure reports and submittals meet strict deadline requirements.

  • General analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Excel.

  • Ability to learn and stay informed of frequent changes to industry regulations.

  • Industry experience preferred but not required.

We provide wholesale electricity, wholesale and retail natural gas, and utility services to member municipalities, most of which are small, rural communities. The Municipal Energy Agency of Nebraska (MEAN) is one of four organizations that make up the NMPP Energy Coalition. MEAN is a not-for-profit organization that provides wholesale electricity supply and services to 69 participating communities in four states.
