Defense Finance and Accounting Service SUPPORT SERVICES SPECIALIST in Limestone, Maine
Summary Who May Apply: All U.S. Citizens Defense Finance and Accounting Services (DFAS) mission is to lead the DoD in finance and accounting by ensuring the delivery of efficient, exceptional quality pay and financial information. Telework availability is limited and will only be provided on a rare case-by-case basis during situations where Agency Leadership has determined that telework serves a compelling DoD need. Responsibilities Develops and revises operating methods and procedures to reduce postal costs. Develops and trains mail room employees on the proper procedures for handling incoming mail. Serves as the Accountable Property Book Officer for all accountable property. Incumbent is responsible for approving all purchases and reconciliation of card holder statements for seven Government Purchase Card holders. Conducts audits and internal reviews to correct operational deficiencies, prevent fraud waste and abuse and improve efficiency of the operation. Incumbent is the site records manager, and will implement the records management program according to agency instructions. Monitors assigned supply/equipment management program for supported areas to ensure adequate reserve of expendable supplies and equipment are on hand at all time to meet mission requirements. Prepares purchase requests, processes both government credit card and purchase orders requests; ensures that information pertaining to items, description, price, quantity, etc., is correct and funds are available. Duties will be developmental in nature when the position is filled below the full performance level. Work is primarily sedentary in nature, although some slight physical effort may be required. Occasional lifting required up to 40 lbs. GS: 07: Specialized Experience Is Defined As: Assisting in the coordination of a variety of support programs to include but not limited to postal program, copier program, safety, security, contingency planning, warehousing, procurement, facilities. To be eligible for the GS-09 position applicants resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-07) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. GS-09: Specialized Experience Is Defined As: Coordinating a variety of support programs to include but not limited to postal program, copier program, safety, security, contingency planning, warehousing, procurement, facilities; collecting information related to workflow, office procedures, and control systems in support of program evaluations; and identifying solutions to administrative problems. Work is primarily sedentary in nature, although some slight physical effort may be required. Occasional lifting required up to 40 lbs. Paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social) is qualifying. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience. Education GS-07 Substitution of Education for Experience: One full year of graduate level education or Superior Academic Achievement (http://www.opm.gov/qualifications/policy/ApplicationOfStds-04.asp) may be substituted to meet the specialized experience requirement. Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate level education and experience may be used to meet total experience requirements.
