Swartz Restoration and Emergency Services Accounting Assistant in Lima, Ohio

Swartz Restoration & Emergency Services is a 24/7 emergency services contractor that provides services to repair and mitigate damage to residential and commercial properties from fire, water, storm, and other disasters. With a culture of quality and integrity, Swartz Restoration is interested in adding a talented accounting professional to our team.

 

Swartz is currently seeking an experienced Accounting Assistant to provide functional support to the Financial Controller and encompass various accounting and administrative tasks to help support the company. The ideal candidate will possess strong critical thinking and analytical skills and a thorough understanding of financial concepts and accounting principles. 

 

Shift: Full-Time; 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday -- Friday; No Weekends

Position Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • 2-3 years of proven experience in accounting, or a related financial role
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen
  • Must currently reside within a 30-mile radius of the Swartz office in Lima, OH

     

Responsibilities:

  • Receive and review day-to-day invoices, subcontracts, and purchase orders for completeness and compliance with financial policies and procedures
  • Accurate and timely processing of accounts payable. Enter invoices, approved subcontracts, purchase orders, etc.
  • Conduct account analysis and reconciliations
  • Maintain and coordinate vendor and subcontractor management
  • Perform a wide range of accounting and administrative duties and clerical tasks such as filing, scanning, and organizing documents
  • Answer, & direct incoming phone calls from a multiline phone system
  • Function as the initial point of contact with office visitors and delivery personnel
  • Assist with special projects as assigned by the Financial Controller
  • Monitory/manage office supply inventory, and equipment
  • Verify accounts by reconciling monthly statements, resolve any discrepancies
  • Assist in additional office tasks to support workload and coverage for team members as needed

Additional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficiency/experience in financial accounting software such as Sage or QuickBooks
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Strong data entry skills with attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Solid accounts payable and account reconciliation skills
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with integrity
  • Familiarity with the construction industry & an understanding of construction processes is a plus
