Position Summary

Paint various production parts to specifications, ensuring consistent quality and adherence to customer specifications while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Core Responsibilities

  • Punctuality and daily attendance.

  • Operate and use hand-held electrostatic spray gun.

  • Maintain operational condition of paint gun.

  • Apply wet paint film of specific thickness and texture to production parts in a quality manner within timed sequences.

  • Operate blow-off nozzle; moderate to heavy lifting to remove excess water from parts.

  • Maintain quality standards for work incoming and outgoing.

  • Move hazardous material.

  • Cleanup of shop and work area.

  • Rework of parts to be painted.

  • Ordering and stocking supplies.

  • Performs other duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned by management to support Volvo Penta goals and objectives.

Within the framework of VPS/Quality/Environment are the following roles

  • Do your job, improve your job, develop yourself and develop your team.

  • Follow all quality work instructions to ensure adherence to customer specifications.

  • Follow all environmental work instructions to ensure adherence to Volvo requirements and other legal obligations

  • Initiate kaizens and participate in cross-functional kaizens, as needed.

Skills and Knowledge Required

  • Must have good coordination and ability to stand, move, bend, and stoop with calculated movements in order to paint various size and dimensions of parts using hand-held spray gun.

  • Requires full range of vision and eye coordination.

  • Requires on-the-job training in paint application, spray techniques, and spray gun maintenance.

  • Must be trained in Basic Liquid Spray Technology.

  • Annual portable fire extinguisher training.

  • RCRA training annually.

Education and Experience

  • High school graduate or equivalent required

Equipment Used and Working Environment :

  • Hand-held electrostatic spray gun.

  • Respirators (Facial hair that comes between the sealing surface of the face piece and the face or that interferes with valve function is not permitted)

  • Coveralls (PPE).

  • Gloves and painters boots (PPE).

  • Must be able to work inside closed spray booth area, exposed to paint and solvent fumes.

  • Must be able to withstand high heat and humid conditions as well as high noise level conditions.

  • Must be able to life moderate to heavy loads.
