The Program
At Novo Nordisk, interns will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced industry professionals and gain valuable, hands-on, full-time work experience. For ten working weeks, interns will be immersed in the environment of a global pharmaceutical company and contribute to the line of business by providing sustainable and meaningful project work. Our internship program also includes instructor led trainings, a leadership engagement series, and a guided mentorship program to offer professional and personal development.

Scope of Position
Global Nucleic Acid Therapeutics (GNAT) develops cutting edge genetic therapies to address the unmet need in cardiometabolic diseases. The RNAi pharmacology team is an integral part of GNAT with focus on developing RNAi therapeutics from early target identification and validation, to progressing candidate molecules through preclinical development.
The intern will contribute to ongoing efforts to deliver RNAi to extrahepatic tissues such as kidney and adipose tissue and in the course will acquire basic understanding of RNAi sequence design, nucleotide modifications and their effects on potency.
This will be accomplished by performing studies ranging from screening molecules in vitro in disease-relevant cells, to helping with analysis of in vivo SAR (structure activity relationship) studies. Candidate will have the opportunity to learn core techniques integral to RNAi discovery such as RNA isolation, cDNA synthesis, QPCR, immunoblotting and in situ hybridization. The intern will be exposed to proper study design, data analysis and interpretation, and data storage in electronic notebooks. As part of a large team, candidate will participate in weekly team meetings and will have the opportunity present ongoing results and solicit feedback from other team members.

Qualifications
Must be a current student enrolled at an accredited college or university pursuing at least a bachelor’s degree
An in progress undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences, or a related discipline preferred
Strong academic record with a preferred cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
Conscientious self-starter with good organizational skills, project management skills and attention to detail
Ability to balance multiple projects and priorities, must be able to multi-task
Strong interpersonal communication and ability to collaborate with teams; must effectively operate independently, across functional lines, and with internal customers
Demonstrated personal initiative, self-motivation, flexibility, adaptability and willingness to learn
Proficient in Microsoft Office Tools including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
