Required License/Registration/Certification | Registered Nurse (RN) and a national certification to be obtained within 1 year of hire and maintained throughout employment in this job title. This national certification will require approval by nursing leadership. |
Physical Requirements | The ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50-100 pounds on a daily basis; as well as stand, walk and sit for long periods of time. The conditions of work may involve exposure to communicable diseases and injury from intractable patients or sharp instruments. |
Shift | UK hospitals operate on a 24-hour, 7-day a week basis. Shift will vary and include days, nights, evenings, weekends and holidays per departmental needs. |
Job Summary | The Nurse Manager will supervise all designated nursing staff and other clinical support staff functions for clinics in the Markey Cancer Center. Ensuring appropriate management of resources and quality patient care are essential job duties for this position. This includes: initiating actions for resolutions, maintaining nursing standards of care and magnet-related designations requirements as well as participating in updating policies and procedures. In addition, the positions will be responsible for ensuring adequate nursing staff and clinical support staff are available to care for patients, work with staff to develop schedules and coverage plans, act as a clinical and systems resource for staff, and complete designated staff performance evaluations. The position will work directly with the practice manager and ambulatory nursing director for practice and clinical improvement and nursing initiative. |
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities | Strong communication skills; base/minimum knowledge of Oncology and Chemotherapy agents. |
