Job Title: Construction Administrator

Job Description

As a Construction Project Manager, you will play a vital role in ensuring the successful completion of construction projects. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring Project Financial Data and Budgetary Cost Accounting: You will monitor and review budgetary cost accounting, administer construction contract change orders, maintain spreadsheets indicating project funds allowances, obligations, payments, balances, and planned expenditures. You will also assist in documenting the administration of construction contract change orders by preparing cost estimates, reviewing cost proposals, and preparing change order packages for the Contracting Officer.

  • Construction Phase Scheduling: You will prepare and maintain daily diaries for project activities, noting events affecting construction. You will maintain a current project schedule, coordinate with the general contractor, and compare project progress against the Contractor (CM) schedule and the general contractor’s schedule. You will address all schedule slippages to the Resident Engineer and make recommendations for adjustments in the project. You will coordinate work to be completed with hospital staff to minimize impact on operations.

  • Progress Meetings: You will conduct or attend weekly project meetings to review and monitor projects, project schedules, and review construction contractor payment requirements, including preparing necessary forms for payment processing.

  • Assisting in Issue Resolution: You will keep thorough records of occurrences, contracts, and other construction-related matters of the project to assist in conflict resolution. You will perform scheduling, conduct, and document regular progress meetings with all interested parties to review project status, discuss problems, and resolve issues accordingly.

  • Testing and Inspection Services: You may be tasked to monitor the services of an independent testing agency/laboratory to perform project-specific quality control testing and inspection services. This may include testing/inspection of soils, concrete, precast concrete connections, applied fireproofing, and roofing.

  • Performing Additional Construction Related Services: You will maintain marked-up sets of project plans and specifications for future as-built drawings, perform routine inspections of construction as work proceeds, take action to identify work that does not conform to the contract requirements, and notify the VA and the general contractor when work requires correction. You will compile, through site inspections, lists of defects and omissions related to the work performed and provide these lists to the contractor for correction. You will also assist in relocation efforts, administer construction contract change orders, review submittals, respond to Requests for Information, maintain daily logs of activity, coordinate Owner-supplied equipment, and perform other services as required.

This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 12 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Lexington, Kentucky.

Work Environment

Onsite at one of two VA hospitals. You may be asked to work at both sites. The position does not require overtime and you will work 40 hours per week.
