Title: Business Development SpecialistDepartment: MarketingReports to: Business Development ManagerFLSA: Non-exemptJob Grade: 10 Job Purpose: Identify, develop, and build strong relationships with the goal of supporting Preferred Partners and their employees, increasing financial literacy within the communities we serve, and growing UKFCU’s membership base. This role requires strong communication skills and an ability to present UKFCU’s USPs to executive leaders in external organizations. Additionally, initiative to plan, organize and execute promotional and community engagement events to increase brand awareness and promote products and services. Essential Job Results: JOB SPECIFIC RESULTSManage strategic relationships with existing Preferred Partners by initiating and maintaining regular contact to deepen relationships and create opportunities for membership growth. Consistent communication with Preferred Partners designed to identify opportunities to drive awareness of Credit Union products and services that can support employee workforce.Effectively communicate with Preferred Partners and community organizations through phone, email, in-office visits, on-site events, and group presentations to deliver UKFCU positioning messages, as well as financial literacy classes. Comfort in presenting to leadership and executive-level individuals to convey the benefits of UKFCU and Preferred Partner status.Utilize market-specific tools and other forms of research to identify prospective Preferred Partners to include in the credit union’s field of membership. Develop strategies to connect with gatekeepers and key decision-makers within an organization for the purpose of developing long-term relationships.Seek to identify community engagement opportunities and partnerships to further the credit unions brand awareness and promote the credit union to potential members. Community engagement opportunities may include on-site events, presentations, and volunteering.Actively search for opportunities with educational institutions to deliver UKFCU strategies through investing in young adults and education systems. On-site events, mentorship programs, and financial literacy presentations will allow for increased brand awareness and opportunities for membership growth.Coordinate and assist in the planning and facilitation of various marketing events and programs.Document and manage a calendar of events for business development events for allocated Preferred Partners and community organizations.Accurately track and report on business development activities, contact information, outcomes and report regularly to the Business Development Manager. GENERAL MEMBER CONTACT STAFF RESULTSMaintains account records by updating member information as necessary.When directly serving members, cross-sells credit union services by answering inquiries, actively informing members of new services and product promotions, ascertaining members’ needs, directing members to other staff as appropriate. GENERAL STAFF RESULTSMaintains member and employee confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential and sharing on a business-related as-needed basis only.Engages in problem resolution by clarifying the member’s and/or employee’s complaint; determining the cause of the problem; selecting and explaining the best solution to solve the problem; expediting correction or adjustment; following up to ensure resolution; and keeping the supervisor informed of problems and solutions.Complies with UKFCU policies and procedures by enforcing and adhering to internal UKFCU procedures and board-established policies.Complies with federal, state and local regulations and legal requirements by enforcing and adhering to requirements.Maintains professional and technical knowledge by maintaining an awareness of competitors’ rates and terms, industry trends and technology; attending staff meetings; identifying opportunities to attend seminars that enhance skills and maintain knowledge of new products that could assist in improving operational effectiveness; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; and participating in professional societies.Contributes to a team effort by accomplishing corporate and individual goals and other related results as needed. QualificationsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTSThree to five years of similar or related experience, including business development or sales.A two-year college degree or equivalent in Marketing, Business Administration or similar field of study; or equivalent job-related experience providing the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job.Ability to communicate effectively with senior-level and executive-level individuals within the community, as well as within small, medium and large businesses.Financial services or credit union experience a plus.General PC and computer keyboarding experience.Requires knowledge of computer software including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office (i.e. Outlook, PowerPoint and Word), and project management software (i.e. SmartSheet.)Strong, friendly voice and demeanor, good diction, good public speaking ability.Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions while dealing with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.Ability to travel to businesses, campuses and other locations to facilitate marketing initiatives.Ability to write reports, correspondence and procedures.Ability to think critically and creatively.Ability to work independently.Ability to work evenings and weekends. Work schedules will be established by the employee's supervisor according to business needs. Working locations and schedules may be altered at management discretion.
