LC State invites applications for the position of Security Officer, Supervisor.

Salary and rank based on experience and qualifications: \$21.63 - \$23.56 per hour.

Hours are 1:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.

Required Qualifications:

  • At least 1-year experience in a security related field.
  • Some knowledge of supervisory practices.
  • Possession of a current valid state driver\'s license upon employment.
  • Possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills including Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Internet Explorer/Firefox/Chrome.
  • Good knowledge of self-defense measures, First Aid/CPR/AED, security problems and safety hazards as they relate to a college or university setting which includes a large complex of buildings and grounds, students, staff, faculty, and community members.
  • Experience performing investigations incidental to security activities and completing investigative reports.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An Associate\'s degree in criminal justice, public administration, management, social work, or a related area from a regionally accredited college or university and experience in law enforcement, campus safety, is preferred.
  • An understanding of the coordination of campus safety and student development at a rural, residential, liberal arts college is also preferred.
  • Title IX and Clery Act experience
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification.

Responsibilities:

1. Campus Security and Reporting: Assist with the development, planning, and implementation of the college\'s overall campus security operations;\ Assist with the development and maintenance of the Security Operations Policies and Procedures Manual.\ Review Incident Reports and Daily Officer Logs for follow up, accuracy, and detail.\ Maintain an accurate list of uniforms and equipment issued to officers.\ Notify the Director whenever equipment and/or uniforms need to be repaired or purchased.\ Organize and lead officers during special event operations.\ Make hiring recommendations for part-time Security Officer position openings.\ Assist with the administration of the officer training program.\ Collaborate with the Director in the Field Training Officer Program for new officers and perform remedial training for current officers when necessary.\ Schedule classes and instructors for quarterly and annual training sessions.\ Track and maintain a database of training received by officers.\ Ensure officers stay current on required certifications including (but not limited to) First Aid/CPR/AED, Defensive Tactics, Verbal Communications, Hazardous Materials, etc.\ Assist with parking enforcement, investigating incidents, and maintain the shift schedule for all full time, part time, and IH officers.\ Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with students, faculty, staff and administration.\ Collaborate and communicate with local, state, and federal law enforcement and emergency response agencies.\ Maintain knowledge and familiarity with federal and state laws applicable to campus safety operations, including but not limited to FERPA, the Clery Act compliance requirements, Title IX, and VAWA.\ Assist with the overall management of the campus parking program which includes issuing parking permits, enforcing parking rules (issuing citations), collecting citation revenue, and maintaining parking lots.\ Work with the appropriate student groups and student organizations to educate and promote a campus culture of safety, well-being, responsiveness, and compassion.\ Attend and provide assistance a t campus community events such as commencement, athletic games, sustainability festivals, academic lecture programs, etc. as needed.\ Assist law-enforcement agencies with matters relating to Lewis-Clark State student, staff, and/or faculty.

\ 2. Patrol\ Perform patrols of campus on foot and/or in patrol vehicles and be a visible presence in the community.\ Act as a security presence for campus events, as needed.\ Write reports for calls for service.\ Collaborate with officers and campus staff during initial investigations on campus.\ Respond to calls for service ranging from lockouts to emergencies.
