A Laundry Supervisor will have a thorough working knowledge of all laundry equipment and how the laundry department supports the operations with the resort and Spa. Supervise and work along-side the laundry personnel to ensure maximum productivity levels are maintained. Complete monthly inventory and reorder chemicals when needed. Maintain the cleanliness and operation of the laundry equipment.

Essential Functions

  • To perform all job functions of the Laundry Attendant which includes sorting, washing, drying, ironing, and clean up.

  • To monitor daily job performances of employees and send report to the Executive Housekeeper.

  • To provide substitute coverage in the laundry when needed.

  • To maintain a good working relationship with managers and develop a thorough understanding of their linen needs.

  • To maintain high quality control of all outgoing linens and terry.

  • Maintain a re-wash program for stained linen.

  • Implement and maintain a “loss” linen spreadsheet.

  • Work closely with laundry purveyors to ensure quality and application of laundry products is of highest quality, while being cost effective.

  • Communicate needed repairs and maintenance of machines.

  • Maintain poundage reports.

  • Provide feedback to the Executive Housekeeper on all internal colleague and operational challenges.

  • Monitor the safe operation of the equipment in laundry and provide corrective in the moment feedback.

  • Train new colleagues using the Laundry Department checklist and ensure proficiency.Re-train current colleagues if in need.

  • Ensure Hyatt My Learnings are completed, understood, and in compliance.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.   • General knowledge of laundry, laundry equipment, ordering, and reporting

  • Supervisory skills

  • Bi-lingual preferred

  • Good communications and organizational skills

  • Mid-shift hours required

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Graduate or GED equivalent. 1 year of Laundry or Housekeeping Supervision preferred; experience required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read and interpret retail product labeling. Must be able to efficiently communicate with vendors, colleagues, and team members.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
