Position Overview
As Vice President of Industrial Operations, you will have the opportunity to build out the business that will support Kiewit Industrial projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for strategic market direction, project development, client relations, and contract negotiations for the industrial market. He or She will develop and maintain trusting relationships with key client decision makers, stay abreast of client organizational and market changes, provide advice to design team of client needs and industry standards/requirements, and understand the business development opportunities with existing and potential clients. As such, the successful candidate will have responsibility for recommending market strategy and target opportunities, developing proposal strategy and participating in proposal and estimate preparation, provide insight and counsel for design parameters, interface with clients during project phases through to completion/commission, keeping abreast of industry regulatory changes, along with developing focused marketing approaches.

Location
This position will be based out of Lenexa, KS and typically requires travel across the United States and Canada or as business necessitates.
Responsibilities
The Vice President has overall accountability for projects throughout the region. As the Vice President you will act as the representative of the organization, and play a vital leadership role through:
Providing 'championship' for the projects throughout the region, selling and marketing the projects throughout the organization
Providing business expertise and guidance to the Project Manager(s).
Acting as the link between the project owners, the business community and key management decision making groups
Acting as an arbitrator and making decisions that may be beyond the authority of the Project Manager
You will be responsible for:
Ensuring that the business need is valid, correctly prioritized and project is properly launched
Ensuring that the projects remains a viable business proposition
Ensuring changes to the projects are properly managed and risks are assessed
Establishing the project organization, roles and reporting structure
Ensuring the project is following all Safety Guidelines and policies
Approving key project deliverables
Initiating project reviews and supporting the process of review with project team
Resolving issues (typically competition for resources and priority clashes)
Resolving conflict and removing obstacles to progress
Overall quality and safety of the project, both the methods used to develop it and the end product.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management
At least 20 years related Executive management experience in the Industrial, energy, power and utilities market
Experienced in contract negotiation and project execution with energy, utilities and EPC project work
Able to rapidly develop strategies and tactical plans to position Kiewit in these markets
This individual must be well organized and have a high energy level. He or she must be a perceptive self-starter who can implement effective sales and marketing programs and make adjustments for industry trends, market swings, and competitor activities.
The successful candidate will be innovative and have the ability to perceive business opportunities and work closely with company management in developing and executing strategies which capitalize on these opportunities.
