The City of Lenexa is currently looking for customer service oriented people who like to work with the public in a fun fitness environment. The Front Desk Attendant acts as the first contact for the Recreation Center. This position is responsible for all aspects of registering individuals all Recreation Center programs, memberships, activities and classes.

This position is year-round and works an average of 15-20 hours per week with a routine schedule of weekdays and weekends. Currently seeking candidates with availability during the afternoon hours.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acts as first customer service contact for the Recreation Center.

  • Provides information to visitors and callers inquiring about membership, programs, facility amenities, and all other related activities.

  • Responsible for entering all membership fees and program registrations into the registration software.

  • Assists in enforcing Recreation Center policies and procedures.

  • Assist supervisors with special projects including, but not limited to: marketing materials, facility notices, outbound phone calls, and class changes.

    Additional Example of Work Performed

  • Assists individuals over the phone and in person with membership inquiries and registration.

  • Collects necessary information from the customer, takes payment and puts all pertinent information into the computer.

  • Registers individuals for any Parks and Recreation program, including those outside of the Recreation Center.

  • Collects and accounts for all fees, charges, refunds and disbursements related to the facility membership and program registrations.

  • Responsible for onboarding and checking in members with verification processes.

  • Responsible for answering general inquiries and providing tours of the facility.

  • Greets each and every guest with a smile and direct eye contact, upholding great customer service.

  • Assists in enforcing City of Lenexa and Parks & Recreation policies and procedures.

  • Follows all cash-handling procedures to complete daily close out processes.

  • May help with staffing and physical set-up of events in the Recreation Center.

  • May be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

    Qualifications

    Minimum: At least 16 years of age at the time of employment. Previous experience in a customer-service related field. Must have or be able to obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certification within 60 days of hire.

    Desired: At least one year of customer service experience.

    Compensation: Starting hourly rate of pay is $15.50 per hour. Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of pre-employment physical and drug screen. A background check is required if over the age of 18.
