CPS Shop Supervisor 2nd shift in Lehighton, Pennsylvania

JOB Duties

  • Primarily responsible for the production and output of the full range of plastic products in every phase.  Secondarily responsible for the quality of the full range of plastic products.
  • Leads and develops a multi-functional manufacturing team to establish, communicate and achieve operational goals, production standards, production volume, inventory controls, cost control, compliance and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS).
  • Supports the President, General Manager and Production Manager in developing and meeting various key manufacturing metrics as established by management such as production quality, cost and on time delivery.
  • Provides operational leadership needed to deliver profitable growth including maintaining: a favorable, safe and productive manufacturing environment, excellence in manufacturing, customer service focus, communications of daily production expectations with manufacturing Foremen, performance management processes, readiness and training of team members and implementation of initiatives for improvement in all facets of manufacturing. (reduction of cycle times, improve inventory turn, etc.).
  • Responsible for proper maintenance of property, building, plant and production facilities including site inspections, organization of repairs and routine maintenance of production equipment, and readiness of fleet vehicles.
  • Participates in long-range plant expansion, conversion and equipment planning and oversees the installment of all shop equipment.
  • APT Safety Sub-Committee Participant and Liaison and OSHA 511 certified (if required by Production Manager) supporter of Federal OSHA policies, procedures and standards, as well as general industry safety and health principles.
  • Coordinates with Production and Project Managers to manage selected elements of the mold-making and plastic manufacture phase.
  • Coordinates with Human Resources/Controllers Office/Production Manager on workmen's comp, safety violations, staffing needs, shift standards, handbook infringements, etc.

``` - Use production techniques which are consistent with the company standards of quality while applying work habits, which are in accordance with the company employee handbook. - Carryout management duties as directed by the General Manager, Production Manager, Project Managers and Controller and coordinate with Shop Personnel and Quality Control. - Follow through with scheduled time constraints, deadlines and assist with blueprint details to the Shop Personnel and Quality Control. - Oversee and Instruct Shop Personnel with emphasis, including, but not limited to: timely and quality-oriented production, operational and production equipment, research & development projects, assembly and mold prep, prioritize & sponsor safety training - Oversee fabrication or fabricate all necessary mold-making materials, manufacturing materials and shipping materials - Overseeing all mechanized operational systems, i.e. Thermoforming machines, saws, etc. - Oversee and manage the return and storage of all unused inventory & non-inventory materials in an orderly fashion upon completion of the job. - Promptly communicate to the Production/Project Managers the completion of a job, the use of materials and labor performed which does not appear on the work order. - Advise Production Manager and QC of rejected product. - Notify the Purchasing Manager/Production Manager of impeding deficiencies when needed for timely replenishment. - Immediately notify Purchasing Manager/Production Manager of damaged or defective tools and equipment of everyday use and reorder. - Maintain all work areas in a clean and safe condition, especially at day's end. - Immediately advise General Manager, Production Manager and/or Controller of any hazardous condition. - Continuously strive to improve efficiency in the work area and the facility at large, be willing to participate in shop me tings (OSHA, safety, production and benefits) and training programs which are sponsored by the company. - Maintain a positive work attitude and cooperate with fellow employees. - Comply with working hours set by Production Manager

Physical Demands

  • Heavy (exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects).
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination.
  • The ability to safely use and do general maintenance of industrial machinery and power tools.

Qualifications & Skills

  • High school graduate preferred
  • Minimum 2 years general manufacturing experience in commercial layout and mold fabrication or, (lacking experience), the willingness and desire to learn
  • PA driver's license
  • Certified forklift driver
  • CNC machine background a plus
  • Thermoforming machine background a plus
  • Must be a self-starter, multi-tasker with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others
