We are searching for a Specimen Handler for our client located in Leesburg, VA. You’d be responsible for handling and organizing animal tissue specimens such as tissues, tissue blocks, and slides.

Location: Leesburg, VA

Shift: Monday-Friday 8 am-5 pm

Pay: $17-$19 per hour

Type: Contract

Responsibilities

• Sort and inventory of research material, which may include, but is not limited to: wet tissues, blocks, slides, paper data, and/or temperature sensitive material

• Keep the Biorepository Coordinator informed of day-to-day progress, including irregularities and deviations from the normal

• Knowledgeable of Standard Operating Procedures

• Perform actual archiving procedures necessary for the completion of assigned projects

• Available for offsite projects / travel

• Performance of other duties as assigned by the Biorepository Coordinator or appropriate supervisory personnel

• Understand the significance of Quality Control procedures and perform his/her work accordingly.

Qualifications

• High school graduate (or equivalent)

• Previous experience handling tissue specimens.

• Able to follow written and/or verbal instructions

• Capable of producing quality work.

• Ability to learn and use Microsoft Office and database software
