TheLaboratory Supervisor - Blood Bankis responsible for the overall direction, operations and performance of the Blood Bank Department within the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. They plan, organize, and manage section activities and personnel. This position works directly for and closely with the Transfusion Services Manager to ensure adherence to AABB and CAP accreditation requirements.
This is a full-time, 40-hour/week benefitted day-shift position.

Responsibilities
Supervises all personnel and activities within section through various means and practices, including, but not limited to, reviewing and maintaining section's operations to ensure an effective and efficient processing and reporting of workload, scheduling section workflow - adjusting staffing coverage to meet demands, evaluating the performance of section staff, seeking and providing avenues for them to upgrade their job skills, etc.
Documents, implements, and maintains standard laboratory procedures for the section. Ensures high quality test results through hospital and section quality assurance activities. Ensures the safety and security of property and section personnel.
Responsible for the overall teaching program in the section which includes MT students, residents, other shifts, aides, etc.
Oversees technological improvements, proper utilization and maintenance of equipment and development of new test procedures in specialized area.
Ensures that managerial policies, practices, and objectives of the department are achieved within the section.
Assists in preparing, implementing, and monitoring the annual budget for equipment, supplies, and personnel.
Prepares planning activities in the section. Participates in the Laboratory Department's planning process.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
Registered Medical Technologist with 5 years of laboratory experience including 2 years in a supervisory or lead position.
Master's degree preferred.
Familiarity with regulatory agencies affecting laboratories required.
CPT & ICD-9 coding experience and Medicare reimbursement knowledge desired.
Required Licensure/Certifications
Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) OR International Technologist in Blood Banking (BB - ASCP)
