Dartmouth Health Child Life Assistant - Child Life Program in Lebanon, New Hampshire
Overview
The Child Life Assistant supports the psychosocial development of children, adolescents and their families throughout the DHC system and reaching into the community. Provides developmental activities, maintains safe and therapeutic play spaces and supplies.
Responsibilities
At the direction of the child life specialist, provides developmental play experiences for children of all ages and abilities.
Able to adapt play experiences to meet the individualized needs of the child and family.
Creates and maintains a therapeutic and safe environment which supports child development, family systems, and diversity.
Uses critical thinking and past experience to understand and recognize patterns in order to anticipate needs.
Maintains play spaces and supplies to support the needs of the space.
Communicates and or documents observations and interventions to the team.
Collaborates with the patient, family, interdisciplinary and child life team members
Creates opportunities for normalcy for children and adolescents
Provides family centered, developmental education
Represents, communicates, and documents child life and psychosocial issues of pediatric health care to the interdisciplinary team across the D-H system and within the community.
Directs child life volunteers and supports all volunteer programming
Accountable for personal learning and growth through professional activities
Exhibits positive influence on team dynamics through self-reflection and feedback that supports overall team function and growth.
Communicates effectively with the interdisciplinary team when planning, problem solving, and evaluating
Possesses knowledge and understanding of divers
Qualifications
Excellent interpersonal communication skills essential.
Minimum of 3 years direct experience with children
Required Licensure/Certifications
BLS Certification
Area of Interest:Allied Health;
FTE/Hours per pay period:1.00 - 1.00 - 40 hrs/week;
Shift:Day;
