Advanced Practice Provider Position, Pediatric Neurology

Dartmouth Health Children’s and Geisel School of Medicine

The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Pediatric Neurology at Dartmouth Health Children’s, seeks an experienced Pediatric Neurology Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant). This individual will work with members of the Pediatric Neurology section primarily in the outpatient clinic, but responsibilities may also include inpatient epilepsy monitoring unit patients and participation in the consultative practice (emergency room, consult liaison service patients) over time and as interests develop.

Dartmouth Health Children’s provides an extended system of care with primary, specialty, and advanced tertiary pediatric services, including an inpatient pediatric unit with PICU, Level II Pediatric Trauma Center, and Level III NICU at its flagship Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (CHaD). Dartmouth Health Children’s also operates a comprehensive ambulatory specialty center at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Clinic in Manchester, the largest city in the state, and 10 pediatric primary care medical homes across the region. The successful candidate will conduct and document comprehensive initial and ongoing physical and neurologic evaluations and examinations, synthesize data and utilize evidence to develop, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of patient care plans, including ordering and interpreting laboratory, radiological, and other diagnostic studies/results, and practicing with a significant degree of independence as part of a team.

The candidate will provide relevant management, referrals, counseling, and education to patients and families, caregivers, related to current care and preventive health measures, as well as facilitate/participate in quality related initiatives through planned group processes, workshops, seminars, conferences, and staff meetings, to improve clinical and system practice performance; collaborate in research projects and protocols; routinely apply evidence-based best practices to patient care, and additional activities as needed and based on interests.

Teaching residents and medical students is expected, so eligibility for appointment to the faculty at The Geisel School of Medicine is required, at a rank commensurate with experience and academic portfolio. Responsibilities

Qualifications

Masters degree or higher, with documentation of completion of an accredited Advance Practice Nursing program or Physician Assistant program

Minimum one year of pediatric experience as an Advanced Practice Provider preferred, and experience in Pediatric Neurology desirable. Familiarity with interrogation of vagal nerve stimulators desirable.

Required Licensure/Certifications

Licensed as an Advance Practice Provider (NP, PA) in the state of NH by the appropriate licensing Board.

Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
