Production Manager

Job Overview

The Production Manager-s primary responsibilities include planning, coordinating and achieving production schedules to meet sales and financial targets; Developing and executing training plans to meet safety, regulatory, and production requirements; and leading associates to successfully meet daily KPIs - utilizing visual daily management, continuous improvement/Kaizen and other lean manufacturing tools.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Maintain consistency and facilitate a collaborative working environment.

  • Manage value stream by documenting the current state, developing future state and tracking steps to achieve future goals and objectives.

  • Manage associate labor, including vacation and daily/weekly overtime scheduling.

  • Utilize ERP software to plan and manage the production schedule to assure adequate throughput and maintain on-time deliveries.

  • Plan production by analyzing overall demand and scheduling work economically based on demand and personnel availability.

  • Develop and implement new methods, procedures and systems to improve service, cost, quality and performance.

  • Ensure 5S Standards are adhered to in production areas and associated -common- areas.

  • Conduct routine quality audits.

  • Supervise team member development and cross-training to support key performance goals for the Company.

  • Maintain a -continuous improvement- approach by identifying areas that may benefit from kaizen events, process improvement projects, ergonomic assessment, waste identification, etc.

  • Supervise operation to comply with all applicable safety laws and regulations as well as company safety policies, procedures and standards.

  • Supervise associate performance, recognizing and rewarding positive contributions and maintaining a culture of accountability.

  • Ensure a safe and clean working environment for all plant employees and visitors.

  • Communicate standard operating procedures and work rules to all production team members and ensures they are implemented and adhered to.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree in Management, Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent work experience is also acceptable.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment in a leadership role.

  • Experience, coursework and/or training in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma

  • Demonstrated understanding of business finances.

  • Excellent communication skills and meeting facilitation skills.

  • Ability to effectively communicatewith other employees, departments, and all levels of management.

  • Promote teamwork and foster a great team environment.

  • Ability to multitask while being complete and thorough in following documented procedures.

  • Ability & willingness to adapt to change and exhibit a desire to improve every day.

  • Technical aptitude and familiarity with manufacturing processes.

  • ERP/MRP/Planning - production order creation, maintenance experience.

  • Ability to effectively make decisions with limited time and information and can determine decision making criteria based on priorities.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, independent problem resolution, proven leadership ability

  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Ability and availability to work weekends when required.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Physical capabilities include but are not limited to frequent walking and standing, occasional twisting, stooping, carrying, handling, pushing, and pulling, climbing, kneeling, and lifting 20-35 lbs. frequently and 26-50 lbs. occasionally.

  • Majority of time is spent in a manufacturing production environment with some (but not all) climate-controlled areas. Personal protective safety equipment must be worn, and proper safety precautions must be observed.
