Position Location: Lebanon, Indiana

Initially, the role is expected to be hybrid with escalating onsite requirements as the project progresses:

· Remote: 2024, 2025

· Hybrid: 2026

· On-Site: 2027

Travel: Up to 20% of the time to various suppliers, collaborators, and client sites outside of Indianapolis

About the Role: PACIV is seeking a Consultant Automation Engineer - Project Area Lead to take responsibility for the control system solution within a defined area of a large-scale pharmaceutical project. In this role, you’ll ensure that all automation deliverables are aligned with the program’s overall automation philosophy, standards, and user requirements. You’ll lead the software development process, work closely with system integrators, and contribute to the successful execution of automation solutions within your area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Automation Oversight: Lead process automation software development and ensure consistency of deliverables, including functional specifications, control strategies, and recipes.

  • System Integration Collaboration: Work with system integrators to create functional specifications, assist in defining DeltaV software components, and support the preparation of Parameter and Recipe Specification documents.

  • Testing & Validation: Witness and verify Software Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) by system integrators, support test case preparation, and resolve issues identified during testing.

  • Risk & Issue Management: Track issues in the issue tracker, identify technical risks, and plan effective responses.

  • Documentation & Communication: Document functional requirements and communicate progress, issues, and requirements to the Project Technical Lead.

  • Team Collaboration: Participate in multidisciplinary teams to develop functional requirements, provide guidance to system integrators, and ensure alignment with program standards.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience.

  • Experience: 8+ years in pharmaceutical automation, preferably in API/bulk manufacturing, with project experience including:

  • Deriving S88 physical models from P&IDs.

  • Deriving software control strategies from PFDs and process documentation.

  • Exposure to DeltaV DCS implementation.

  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of GMPs, regulatory requirements, and computer system validation principles.

  • Communication & Teamwork: Exceptional teamwork abilities with excellent communication skills for engaging both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Compensation:

Competitive Salary and Benefits Package, which includes:
