Role Responsibilities:

New York Life Insurance (NYL) is seeking a highly talented and driven Product Owner to join our dynamic, high-performing team. Our focus is on continually improving our technology ecosystem and transforming our business processing capabilities to support our institutional clients in an industry-leading business unit, Institutional Life (IL). IL offers sophisticated life insurance products in the Bank Owned Life Insurance (BOLI), Corporate Owned Life Insurance (COLI), and Corporate Sponsored markets.

This role is part of the Client Experience & Data Analytics team, which collaborates across the enterprise to drive the strategic and tactical delivery of IL’s modernized and scalable technology ecosystem. We guide and support the transformation of our operational process capabilities with a continuous improvement mindset.

The Product Owner position will partner with technical teams and subject matter experts to identify, document, test, and deliver features and functions on our customized Salesforce platform. We are looking for a highly organized problem solver who is engaged and curious, with a track record of communicating and building strong relationships across workstreams, project teams, functional teams, and senior leadership.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to understand and intuit customer needs as they relate to our Customer Relationship Management and Workflow system. A strong desire to continuously improve processes using business expertise and technical experience to envision and deliver valuable solutions to our end-users is key.

What You’ll Do:

  • Work directly with end-users/subject matter experts (SME) to continually document and evaluate existing business processes and identify product feature requirements and priorities that are cost-effective, limit risk, and improve the user experience.

  • Combine SME input with quality monitoring results and compliance directives to drive end-user solutions.

  • Develop use cases and document user stories and acceptance criteria to align with epics as defined by the Product Manager and prioritized by the business.

  • Responsible for continuous backlog refinement and prioritization to align with epics and planned delivery.

  • Create a roadmap of timelines to align with delivery expectations. Manage sprint planning, considering development and testing capacity along with Salesforce planned maintenance and new user stories.

  • Combine knowledge of policy administration system functionality, transactional processing, data streams, and Salesforce to determine where solutions will best reside.

  • Test developer output with a critical eye to recognize bugs or uneven user experience.

  • Coordinate the work to coincide with planned release dates.

  • Write end-user communications to announce feature deployments.

  • Demonstrate new features to end-users and executive stakeholders. Conduct more in-depth training as needed.

  • Identify Salesforce changes that will warrant updates to data infrastructure and Tableau reports and align the timing of such changes with the data product owner.

  • Sign off on all procedure, quality, and training documentation associated with Salesforce production moves.

  • Proactively seek out Salesforce training to stay aware of new features and functionality that can solve current and future business challenges.

  • Experience working with agile methodologies (SAFe preferred).

  • Product Owner experience.

  • Experience with Customer Relationship Management and Workflow platforms (Salesforce a plus).

  • Experience with Jira or similar agile project management tool.

  • Experience in the Financial Services Industry preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher).
