APTIM Resident Engineer, New Jersey in Lawrenceville, New Jersey
Job Summary
APTIM is seeking candidates with experience on heavy highway construction projects, in particular the New Jersey Turnpike Authority. Candidate will be an Resident Engineer (RE) conducting inspections on Heavy Highway Construction to include Bridge and Roadway Construction and Repair activities. This is a professional exempt position.
A Resident Engineer help direct, and execute work for all engineering disciplines in the field to support the Resident Engineer on a construction projects. As required they interface and coordinate activities with home office engineering, field construction supervision, contractors and field subcontractors. Additionally, they may support Field Procurement, System Turnover, and Commissioning. Employees are required to take direction and guidance from the designated Construction Field Engineering Manager(s), Resident Engineers. Additionally, the employee is required to have wide-ranging knowledge of construction processes.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
Demonstrate proficiency and work independently, seeking validation only as needed. Coordinate internally with other execution disciplines and external suppliers both within Company prescribed policies/procedure and/or direction from the Construction Field Engineering Manager (Resident Engineer).
As Resident Engineer (RE), capable of taking on the RE role when the RE is not available. Capable of directing all activities of construction technicians and Construction Field Engineers.
Observe and ensure construction practices as required for compliance of construction operations/execution with federal, state, and local codes, industry standards , company procedures, and contractual requirements
Compile documents, field reporting, data, field quantities and information to support the successful completion of relevant construction activities/requirements.
Good Written and Verbal Communication Skills.
Study and understand the project specifications, procedures, and relevant portions of the Contract
Responsible for adhering to and promoting safe work practices
Represent Construction in project meetings
Achieve successful completion of assigned work responsibilities on time, within budget, schedules, and contract requirements.
Basic Qualifications:
5 TO 8 Years Experience
BS in Civil Engineer or Civil Eng. Technology Degree
Bridge and Roadway Repairs and Reconstruction Experience Necessary
Technical knowledge in construction aspects of a specific engineering discipline
Knowledge of construction process
Working technical knowledge in construction aspects of all engineering disciplines
Ability to delegate and prioritize tasks based on staff skills
Knowledge of project team roles and responsibilities
Knowledge of other discipline scopes, roles, and responsibilities
Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local codes
Knowledge of industry and company standards
Ability to determine and apply contract requirements
Knowledge of company construction procedures
Advanced knowledge of company and project safety requirements
Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with groups outside of Construction Field Engineering and the company
Ability to coordinate operations with construction team
Ability to provide guidance to others
Ability to resolve problems and seek assistance if necessary
Ability to take direction from project and departmental leadership
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office application suite.
Working knowledge of Cap-Ex Manager utilized by the NJ Turnpike Authority
Desired/Preferred Qualifications:
NICET Level III (Required for this role)
PE preferred
ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician
NJ SAT Certification
OSHA 16 Hours
Traffic Construction Coordinator NJ
