APTIM Office Engineer in Lawrenceville, New Jersey

The Program Management/Construction Management Group at APTIM is seeking a highly experienced and talented Office Engineer/Civil Inspector to join an existing project team in New York/New Jersey region. This Office Engineer/Civil Inspector will plan, develop, coordinate, and manage onsite construction inspection activities for transportation and Infrastructure (Bridge Reconstruction and Repairs, Roadway Construction and Utilities) related projects as well as manage project inspection functions and activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Civil Inspector

  • Responsible for analyzing all technical aspects of highway, local roadway, Water main and Sewer installation, and utilities reconstruction, reviewing and recommending major construction changes to the Resident Engineer, and supervising construction inspection activities for their projects.

  • Write daily inspection report, verify quantities of work completed and authorize for payment

  • Will serve as a resident engineer's technical representative for the management and inspection of contractor construction activities.

  • Responsible for enforcing safety and quality requirements, help with processing payments, negotiating claims and change orders, supervising inspectors, and will represent construction progress in project meetings.

Office Engineer

  • Responsible for the maintenance and distribution of project records in accordance with contract requirements

  • Responsible for the preparation and distribution of project correspondence/records, performance reporting, administration and scheduling, documentation of project meetings and reporting, and tasks assigned by the Resident Engineer (RE)

  • Support the RE and Inspectors on the review and validation of contractor quantities, certified payrolls, payments/invoices, monthly schedule progress reporting, change orders, contractor Requests for Information (RFI), shop drawings, and submittals

  • Support the RE on both internal and customer reporting on project performance; financial/budgets reporting; staffing forecasts, and schedule reviews.

  • Keep up to date red-line As-built drawings for all the disciplines

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree required

  • 5-7 years' experience in infrastructure construction projects and be NICET Level II or III and/or ACI Level I or II

  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word & Excel)

  • Strong data, reporting and financial analysis skills

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Demonstrated success in problem solving and delivering innovative solutions

  • Interacts well in a dynamic, office team environment

Desired/Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10 hr. OSHA Construction Cert preferred
