Job Description:

50% Impact Programs Coordination : Coordinate, plan, and manage specialized Impact programs as assigned by the Impact Program Director, including MSP, which focuses on high-achieving student populations. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Manage all aspects of the MSP Program, including application solicitation, review, selection, program onboarding and tracking, and graduation recognition.

  • In coordination with the Impact Program Director, help design impactful academic and social programs to address the unique challenges facing these students in the School of Business. Consult with Jayhawk Academic Advising (JAA), Area Industry Mentors (AIMS), Deans, faculty, and staff as appropriate.

  • Use leadership and expertise to provide student guidance related to the program activities.

  • Recruit, engage, and assign faculty mentors to MSP students.

  • Assist faculty in monitoring student progress, academic well-being, and engagement throughout each academic year.

  • Advise student organizations as needed.

  • Plan and execute program-related events. Utilize Impact Programs Administrative Assistant as needed for details such as event reminders, nametags, and attendance tracking.

  • Collect, analyze, and deliver student data through program engagement surveys and assessments.

  • Conduct individual meetings with program staff assistants, tutors, and advisory committee members.

  • Support curriculum development workshops, presentation of seminars, programming, and development of projects.

  • Cultivate relations with internal and external partners to help deliver strategic student programming.

  • Deliver presentations to potential scholars and staff booths at events.

30% Student Support and Retention : Provide support for students facing academic, institutional, financial or personal barriers that affect their continued enrollment or degree completion at the KU School of Business. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • As a member of the Impact team, establish and maintain a system for providing individualized support to students from identified populations facing these challenges.

  • Serve as resource or ‘case manager’ for identified students. Referring students to and coordinating with other School and University resources including School leadership, faculty, Area Industry Mentors (AIMS), eProgram staff, Jayhawk Academic Advising (JAA), Financial Aid, and CAPS as appropriate.

  • Analyze retention and completion data to identify student challenges and create proactive programming to address needs in advance of anticipated difficulties.

  • Design and implement co-curricular academic enrichment programs for School of Business students.

20% Impact Program Team and School Service : Serve as an active and agile member of the Impact Program team and School of Business.

  • Provide structured support, as assigned by Impact Program Director, to achieve strategic goals. Responsibilities may vary based on individual strengths and program needs. Examples include updating print/online program materials or aiding in the production of the bi-annual newsletter, including selecting students for writing articles.

  • Analyze program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. Propose and implement enhancements to optimize program outcomes and student support.

  • Engage as a team. Collaborate and provide additional support to all area programs to collectively improve student outcomes, including SVB and MSP programs.

  • Manage general administrative tasks, including preparing materials, generating reports, creating presentations, setting up meetings, and managing correspondence.

  • May hire or supervise student positions.

  • Serve as an engaged member of the Business School staff, including attending staff meetings, assisting with School-wide events, and serving on School or University committees, as directed.

  • Complete other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Position Overview:

The KU School of Business is seeking a Student Program Coordinator to serve on its Impact team, a unit devoted to students who face academic, institutional, financial, or personal barriers that may make it difficult for them to attend, remain in, or complete their degree requirements for the School of Business. Impact programs may address students from disadvantaged populations, including first-generation, non-traditional, transfer, rural students, students with disabilities, and others who may not have clear or certain pathways to or within college. As a team, the three (3) Impact Program Coordinators address the full student cycle, including recruitment outreach, program support, advocacy, mentorship, professional development, and successful career transition.

Primary responsibilities of this (one) Program Coordinator will focus on program support for high-performing students, advocacy, and retention. This role requires collaboration with other academic enrichment programs within the School.

This is a full-time, 12-month, staff position reporting to the Impact Programs Director. It is designated as an on-campus position. Alternative and flexible work schedules may be evaluated as per KU policy and School guidelines. Office will be located in Capitol Federal Hall, a 166,500 square foot modern facility that the School of Business has called home since 2016.
