Position Summary

We are looking for a Senior Academic Alliances Specialist to join our team. The Academic Alliances and Expertise Development team plays a vital role in fostering expertise and partnerships with academic institutions worldwide. We drive scientific discoveries, position Nestlé as a trusted research partner, and promote talent development. We provide access to the latest scientific knowledge, facilitate consultancy with thought-leaders, and lead science and technology communities. Collaborating with Human Resources, we foster organizational expertise through career programs.

Nestlé Research is based in Lausanne, Switzerland, employs approximately 1000 people and is comprised of five Nestlé Institutes: Food Sciences, Health Sciences, Food Safety & Analytical Sciences, Packaging Sciences, and Agricultural Sciences. A Day in the Life of a Senior Academic Alliances Specialist

  • Collaborate with Nestlé R&D scientists and university researchers to establish research projects

  • Provide regular reports on Nestlé R&D academic collaboration portfolio to senior R&D leaders

  • Identify development areas and propose new collaboration initiatives based on portfolio overview

  • Engage in advisory councils with key academic partners and represent Nestlé in the long term

  • Drive involvement in public-private partnerships across Switzerland, Europe, and beyond

  • Support the Secretary General of Nestlé R&D Scientific Advisory Board in obtaining strategic consultancy for the senior R&D leadership team

  • Manage workshops, review scientific content, and coach presenters for the Advisory Board meetings

  • Regularly review board composition, budget, contracts, and plan for succession

  • Ensure strategic engagement with academic leaders and scientific committees

What will make you successful

  • Strong scientific track record in nutrition, food science, agricultural science, or related fields (PhD, PostDoc, mid-academic career level)

  • Ability to engage and collaborate with internal and external scientists from various disciplines for project design

  • Experience in driving content and organizing top-level scientific workshops

  • Proficiency in developing collaboration framework agreements with legal and finance teams, both internally and externally

  • Capability to assess research proposals in terms of scientific quality, translational potential, and funding requirements

  • Knowledge and experience in leveraging public funding schemes for public-private partnerships

  • Excellent persuasive skills to influence senior leadership representatives in Nestlé and academia

  • Ability to provide coaching and guidance to scientists at all levels

  • Fluent in English
