Role Description

With the Field Technical Operations team on GFiber, you’ll support the deployment, operations, installations, and maintenance of a fiber optic network supporting residential and business customers throughout central Texas. This role requires a passion for being on-the-ground, executing complex projects that improve internet access, speed, and service in your community. This role will flex to meet the needs of the business, plugging into areas where needs are critical, and then rapidly moving onto new areas of need as the business evolves. As a consequence, your manager may change frequently in this role, as it will rotate across functions on a needs-basis. It will require some knowledge of our industry and willingness to learn much more. A versatile skill set, a flexible approach, and a willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges as the role evolves and changes is critical.

The Tech Ops team is responsible for deployment and maintenance of a fiber optic network throughout your market, and customer installations and repairs.

In this role, you'll:

  • Lead a team of contractors and vendors to refine and implement a program to efficiently test and accept new network elements such as: fiber optic plant, multi-tenant buildings and network equipment.

  • Facilitate a cross-functional program to identify common issues and develop solutions to eliminate future problems associated with network acceptance.

  • Create & execute quality plans for a robust and predictable product quality in a high volume and high complexity environments.

  • Analyze vendor performance and field data, extract actionable insights, identify improvement opportunities.

  • Monitor, review and present vendor performance data and metrics to stakeholders in a concise and clear way that enables data-driven decision making.

  • Establish true root cause(s), and systemic corrective actions with demonstrated preventative solutions.

  • Manage validation of supplier’s build/test processes and ensure they are meeting GFiber requirements. Validate supplier productlifecycle deliverables defined by GFiber and leverage industry quality standards.

  • Provide analytical leadership to statistically connect production line metrics, tests, and quality audits to field performance.

  • Drive a quality culture that embraces both a “right the first time” and continuous learning approach that improves project efficiency and quality

  • Partner with the Finance and Controls teams to manage budgets and financial controls.

  • Develop project documentation and create reports and presentations to communicate project updates to GFiber executives.

At a minimum we'd like you to have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Telecommunications or a closely related field, or equivalent experience.

  • 3 years of experience in a vendor management role with customer-facing responsibilities.

  • 3 years experience in the telecommunications or cable industry (one of the following areas: network operations, network construction and deployment, network architecture, network maintenance, customer installation, customer repair); OR related experience in general construction management, engineering, and project management.

  • Experience managing vendors, contracts, and budgets on large-scale and complex projects.

It's preferred if you have:

  • Experience managing large scale projects and initiatives from start to finish with proven success.

  • Working knowledge of fiber-to-the-home (FTTH).

  • Proven success working collaboratively on cross-functional, and highly collaborative teams.

  • Flexibility to adapt as role evolves and changes - which could be monthly, quarterly, or annually.

  • 5 years experience in the telecommunications or cable industry (one of the following areas: network operations, network construction and deployment, network architecture, network maintenance, customer installation, customer repair); OR related experience in general construction management, engineering, and project management.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $130,000 - $143,000 + bonus + cash award + benefits. As pay varies by location, your recruiter will share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
