Job Summary and Qualifications

  • You will have direct oversight and management of the Sterile Processing Department, which serves the Operating Rooms, Anesthesia and Endo Services as necessary. You will also support the Labor and Delivery Department, the Cath Labs/ Special Procedures and the Emergency Department by sterilizing instruments and trays used in these departments.

  • You will be responsible for the oversight and management of reprocessing trays, putting away supplies, understanding the fundamental standards of sterility – Steam and Chemical Sterilization Process and High Level Disinfection (Medivator), and will work closely with the department charge nurse to create work schedules and daily assignments

  • You will be responsible for maintaining, overseeing, and monitoring sterility testing at all times as well as maintaining the mandatory records for the Sterility management process, and reporting this information to the Charge Nurse and the Infection Control Nurse per guideline

  • You will be responsible for mentoring and training of current and new department team members and for disseminating and educating all staff members on current professional best practice

What qualifications you will need:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a sterile processing tech preferred

  • Certification as part of the Sterile Processing Association (AAMI, IAHCSMM) within 6 months of hire

  • Certification for an accredited Surgical Technologist school (optional)
