This position is authorized a 10% incentive if eligible - see Additional Information Responsibilities Develop, implement, and recommend internal office administrative, information management, and clerical procedures and guidelines. Research and gather background information and prepare and/or draft reports, outlines, briefs, speeches, and/or introductions to be presented at various meetings. Exercise control over the office supervisors appointments, with complete authority for commitments of time. Screens calls and visitors, answering most questions and resolving issues involving established policy or routine manners. Use automated equipment for work processing, file management, creating/compiling special reports, electronic mail, and other applications necessary for the support and management of office operations. Selective Placement Factors: This position requires a special qualification that has been determined to be essential to perform the duties and will be used as a screen out element. Those who do not provide evidence they possess the following selective factor(s) will be rated not qualified: Typist: Type a minimum of 40 words a minute (based on a 5-minute sample with 3 or less errors). At the GS-07 Level: (One) 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) in the federal service. Specialized experience is further defined as providing information or customer service to internal or external customers; setting appointments for managers; drafting and editing a variety of correspondence utilizing computer software program(s); arrange meetings, conferences, or complete travel documents. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR 300.604. If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level. Physical Demands: The work is mostly sedentary. There is occasional carrying of light objects such as files, books, and paperwork. There are no special physical requirements required. Work Environment: The work is performed in an office setting. The work environment involves everyday risks which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, or commercial vehicles. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and air conditioned. Occasional travel is required. The incumbent will adhere to all safety rules and regulations as prescribes in manuals/supplements or by the designated Safety Officer. Education This position falls under the Secretary Series, 0318 Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. There are no Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for this job series. There is no substitution of education for experience at this grade level. Additional Information Relocation/Recruitment Incentive: This position is offering a Relocation/Recruitment Incentive, 10% of the annual salary.
